I am sorry to see him go, but its clear that he wanted to leave, so good riddence. Lets move on now, get someone in asap and show him what he is missing!!! The only issue i have now, is where will the new manager start, he has to re-build a squad and MM will no doubt take his wish list with him so we are starting from scratch, will AT ever come back? will CC ever make it south of the border?? Will we get super kev??? WHERE DO WE GO NOW??
One thing people are maybe missing when it comes to transfers and Malky taking a list of targets is that that does not seem to be how we work. First with John Stephenson and now the guy from Falkirk(?), it is their job to draw up list of targets and then the manager picks from the list. It is why I don't get the inherent hostility to Directors of Football. The whole point is to maintain a structure knowing that managers come and go. You then do not need to keep ripping up the squad each time. Its what they do in Germany. Anyway, my point in short, is that the player recruitment business should have been going on regardless as it was not Malky's job. He was the coach.
All the best Malky... My one major concern isnt the fact that he's gone, more the fact that he knows he can offer any of our players a better deal up at Cardiff. It would be so easy now for him to make a raid for Cowie, Eustace, Tiny, Sordell, Murray, and any of our other experienced players/players with potential.
What is exceptionally unfortunate is that Malky, Winter and Stephenson went in reasonably quick succession. If the worst comes to the worst, at least it will be interesting to see the likes of Steve Kabba, Bradley Walsh and Moe from the Simpsons line up for us next year, managed by Dasani (he wouldn't be the first owner to take charge of a Football League club).
Added to the above, my other major concern is that whoever replaces Malky will have a torrid time trying to attract new players. Any potential targets will see that we've let two of our best players plus our manager go in the last few weeks, and that could be enough to deter them. Its not all doom and gloom, we've been in this situation before and come through. I guess its all about being patient and waiting for events to unfold.
To be fair BBT we have only let one player go - Buckley at a very good price. Graham and Malky wanted out although for different reason. Graham is surely a positive example for attracting players to the club and what they can achieve in terms of development?
BBT the departures when Rodgers left were a lot more significant. With a couple of players our squad will be fine
So far he has conducted escape and evasion manoeuvres that the SAS would be proud of......... No one has accurately been able to pin him down or attempt to commit him on anything, but with MM gone we'll now be able to see what his ambitions are with regards to the club and the new manager. If he goes for the cheap option of an inhouse promotion or a relatively unknown quantity......then the portons are maybe bad and League 1 beckons However, should he go for someone that we feel is a quality acquisition and backs it up with a move for good players...........
What all of this says to me us that Baz does not have the confidence or support of those within the club
Certainly looks that way. To say we will have trouble attracting players is false. Watford can be seen as a club that improves the player and then doesn't stand in the way once the player has reached a certain potential ie win win for player and club. The only thing against this is how integral was Malky to that process and is GT really on board with the new owners, no way can he have the relationship he had with SEJ but he needs to enjoy what hes doing or he is very entitled to walk and enjoy retirement and family.
Or the fans. I am sure he is a well meaning honest bloke but his track record is worrying. TBF Bas did say players would have to be still be sold. I only hope Malky doesn't come back and try to nick what remaining quality we have as suggested here: http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?t=38399
Dasani? Organising? If that's what we're counting on, it's so depressing that I can only laugh. Thank goodness that League Two is the least competitive professional division in world football.
What makes you think that...not heard of the Scottish Leagues? Anyway we got 300k plus for Malky. Clearly not a fan of Bassini...not quite the millionaire you hoped.
