Who was the last Englishman to manage a team to the title of one of the big 5 European Leagues (England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany)?
That's it I think, 1991-92. Pathetic isn't it. An Englishman has NEVER managed a Premier League winning team. Only Bobby Robson (in Holland and Portugal) and Steve Mclaren (Holland) have won any national top league since Wilkinson. Meanwhile Mourinho alone has won titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain and Ancelotti has in England, Italy and France. Howard Kendall and Joe ***an after the Paisley years Roller. And of course Terry Venables won La Liga with Barca in 1985. In these circumstances I suggest that the next manager of England should not be errr .....English.
Few are given the chance these days... Here's one one Rugby Union. Next Saturday sees the 150th anniversary of the oldest existing club fixture in World Rugby, who are the two teams contesting it?...
...because they are not good enough mate. Redknapp was a favourite for the England job ffs. Right, a shot in the dark, based on deduction....your patch is south east London.........I know Blackheath is a very well established club......next weekend they play Richmond, which has an authentically old ring to it too.....so Blackheath v Richmond.
Versions of which picture can be seen in galleries in London, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Philadelphia and Munich? Another version is in a private collection and yet another was destroyed in the Second World War.
This is Sunflowers by Van Gogh. Rather peculiarly I came across this while I was researching my piece on Cisse!!!
Good punt Kiwi, I know there are muliple versions of that picture. The one I'm thinking of is just as famous.....
Got it Roller. They are of course different pictures of the same subject rather than copies done by the artist.....
