I know we won't have much choice in the matter, but let's be honest the best way to go up is via the play offs. We won the title a couple of years back. Been there done that. so bring on the play offs. What a mental day out that'll be. Yes my arse might not stand the tension but it'd be just like us to squeak through at wembley. So let's accept we ain't gonna make second and embrace the play offs. Bring it on!
Prepare to get bombarded with posters telling you we haven't got a hope of:- A/ getting there and B/ winning it if we do.
I'm not saying anything about our chances but the flyers and QPR are played 7 won 0 lost 7 in finals since I've been supporting them so excuse me if I'm not getting my hopes up.
I fully expect you to finish in the play offs, & also reckon you've got a chance of winning them. Something like one in four.
I'd have taken the play offs before the season started. I know we're currently rubbish but that would just make it even sweeter. It'd be typical QPR to do it that way.
Actually Flyer, the way we are dropping points I think we would both settle for the playoffs if offered them right now.
I'd snap your hand off for the playoffs now. I've gone from thinking "even redknapp can't make us miss the playoffs" to "I'm 75% sure we will miss them"
We are going to play in the play-offs and then anything can happen. If we play like we have been lately or how we have played against Derby, Forest and Burnley, we have no chance, but we have a long time to sort it out. Maybe Morrison will improve and the injured players will be back. I predict we will win the play-off final against the Fake Hoops - marvelous
Way we played against Charlton and today, the run we are on, lack of confidence and above all Arry in charge, I can't see us getting near the playoffs. Only chance I see is if TF can fire Arry in the next few days, bring in Colin, Laudrup who maybe knows a few decent plyers in Europe he can bring in, or anyone decent for the rest of the season, and hope Charlie and Phillips get back a lot earlier than expected.
You are not the first to say this, but I don't think its right. Ignoring form, if all teams were rated as having an equal chance, you would have a 50% chance of beating your first opponent and a 50% chance of winning the final. In fact you are in a competition of 3 teams - your team, the team you play in the first round, and the team you play in the final. Whoever gets knocked out in the other first round game is irrelevant. So at worst your chances are one in three. Someone help me out here, sums isn't my strong point, which is why I bet very infrequently. For the record we will reach the play offs, and I haven't given up on an automatic place yet, still 42 points on the table.
Still think we will do it I have to have faith but our football today wasn't good enough We needed a win today
[Someone help me out here, sums isn't my strong point.[/QUOTE] Grammar isn't too hot today either, Stan!
The bare odds, all being equal are 3/1, add in profit margins and that would come down to around 13/5, then take form into account and adjust accordingly. It's why in a two horse race where all is equal both would be odds-on...
With players coming back we have a good chance of staying in the playoff positions.... We also have a very good chance of losing in them. Still a day at wembley would be something.

We're ****. And we've been **** for months. But we're still fourth with a game in hand. We 'll come good when it matters . And it'll be funny as ****. Because Burnley will be relegated by December next year. Happy days!

Not sure why it'll be funny if Burnley are struggling next season if/when promoted. They've shown what can be done with a well run club and personnel that REALLY show they want it within it. Plus how many people said Crystal Palace would be down by this time this year. There's about 9 different teams in the premiership that could all go down in the next year or so that wouldn't be a surprise. Burnley will find it tough granted but for me there's a list of teams I'd be happier to see go down ahead of them...assuming they go up.
I'll happily predict that you will make the play offs and you would also be my pick to come through them ... your Achilles heel in the regular season (average age of the team) will, I suspect, be in your favour in a three game tournament ... doubt I'll ever have any warm words for Mr Barton (frankly he's a tin pot internet philosopher of limited intellect with a nasty streak of school bully IMHO) but I do think he could be inspirational in a play-off campaign and Benayoun, Krancjar and Hoilett have a touch of class and more genuine ability than players at the clubs you are likely to meet .. the biggest threat to you will, I believe, be Wigan, who are threatening to gate crash the party and will not be phased by 'another' trip to Wembley ... I'd think you'd be better off playing them in the semis ... unless of course they get beat in the other semi ...
