And Eddie, I'm not a Powell basher, I support him, Bovril drinker with a Cardigan and my trainspotting booklet right here... but today, he got it so wrong. But saying that, I never expected anything out of this game, just wanted some fight.
OK fair enough. The Leicester commentators did note that Cousins was poor, and playing on the right certainly won't help his performances. I would think that, given The Asteroid's fitness, he needs to be used sparingly, but on the other hand most of our creativity stems from him so I can see why taking him off and bringing Hughes on is a negative move. The one thing that worries me is, if we beat Sheffield United, we'll have a few weeks before the semi-final in which we'll have plenty of vital league games when the players' minds will be on the trip to Wembley, which could have an effect on their willingness to commit to challenges, runs and so on. We can't afford to let this cup run take our minds off the battle for survival.
Oh and Wood looked so shakey, maybe it was because Vardy and Nugent have pace and he makes my nan look fast, but he was poor by his usual standards. Just a bad day at the office for most involved, but we will move onwards (and hopefully upwards). Maybe Powell will give Cousins a rest that he really needs after that game, he looked jaded and not up to standards.
Bizarre comments, eddie. Not that Captain B was challenging Ted, but why shouldn't forum users question CP's abilities as a manager? CP is obviously flawed as a tactician (wins over a jaded QPR and an awful Wednesday were excellent, granted), and his team selections can be baffling, yet he has plenty of credits in the bank due to our cup run. These credits do not put points on the table, though. Our manager must always be criticised and praised in a fair and timely fashion.
Yann hat trick with arter brace set up by Simon Francis.... we can claim Charlton players won it for Bouremouth
Great moment between Chris Powell and the city fans Superb mutual respect All the best for the rest of the season lads and all City fans want you to stay up
Many apologies to all for panicking. I actually checked the date and was shocked myself to find it was that early, so I don't know what the hell I did. Blackpool are dropping like a stone. There is always one team that does that but I think they have enough points to scrape home. I see Fuller is their top scorer with 4!
I am having a bad day here today. I am the one who should apologise. No way did I intend to criticise you two guys who are among the saner posters here. I am just meant don't give another opening for you know who to launch another three threads on the same topic.
No worries, eddie, when I posted I did wonder if it might come across a little confrontational when I didn't mean it to be. The joys of written interaction, eh?
Did anyone think we'd beat Leicester ... Not really we move on good team selection today just beaten by a better team can't see any reason to slag off CP today though some will and do .. It's their job !
Seeing the team get off the bus this afternoon was disappointed not to see Pete, chuck him up front, give him a chance. I like church, he runs his head off, but he couldn't score in a brothel, least Pete has a decent record this season (yes at a different level) give him a chance. And Nego I want to see so it allows Wilson at RM
Sorry for the double post, but yeah Mike, I love Powell, really do, I want him to succeed, but today with Cousins at RM, and some of his subs he got it wrong, Church up front on his own isn't right either, Astrid was all over the place position wise, played ok but wasn't sure if he was a CDM or a striker. Powell got it wrong today but it's the first time I've really believed whole heartedly he has. Like you said, non of us expected anything, but some fight would certainly have been nice today rather than such a lackluster performance, but again I said, onwards and upwards COYR
Well, I was'nt expecting anything from Leicester, who are clearly too good for this división. Still, when I found out Cousins was out wide again, my heart sank. It usually seems to herald a por performance by us, and I'm curious if anyone has seen it used as an effective tactic? Still, at least the other results did'nt go too badly awry. I still hope we bring in a quality player (not just a Young hopefull) very very son, but as someone posted earlier, you can't really judge CP and the team on an away trip to the Champions Elect. Good luck Leicester for the rest o the season, and next year with the big boys.
Maybe motivate his team to have a single shot on target? There is going to come a time Captain when you are going to reach a tipping point in your love affair with Chris Powell, and accept that he has done a poor job. Your tipping point may well come after successive relegations and league 2 football under CP, but it will come. Your "curled up hedgehog" routine at any hint of CP criticism is bizarre.
Successive relegations... really? And League 2 football under Powell, if by some bizzare turn of events your successive relegations theory does happen... I guarantee that Powell would not be manager in League 2. You always like to bash Powell as being a poor gaffa Vol, but he clearly showed he's a league 1 manager at least... so relegation from there is certainly a no.
You talk as if "successive relegations" is impossible Ted! Remind me who it happened to a couple of seasons ago? I am not a Powell basher, I am a relegation/complacency/settling for failure in order to see a tunnel jump basher. Powell must be judged solely on where we finish in the league this season. No room for twee sentiment. I want him gone.
Wolves? Because it didn't happen to us, not in successive seasons anyway. If you just meant 2 relegation rather than in successive seasons I'm sorry for misunderstanding that. I'm still adamant relegation won't happen for us this season, I'm confident we can survive. If we did get relegated though, it wouldn't be solely down to Powell he would take a big brunt of it, but in my view it would be down to Roland being sh!t in the transfer window, selling our best players and all he did was send us some Standard Liege rejects to us. There is no investment that I can see. He says we signed these places from Liege, but I bet they are all in reality frees and obv loans. Reza was a free and the loans are just poor (Apart from Astrid, who isn't fit yet). Powell will take the brunt for the 1st half of the season, the 2nd half though is down to both Powell and Roland, Roland sold Kermit, the key man to keeping us up, and sold our keeper who was on form, although Hamer is not back and it appears after 2 games, to his best. If you want him gone, I understand, I really do. But I just can't see League 2 football for us, not for a long time anyway if ever in my lifetime.
