Do you really? How much would you put up with in our name to play in the Premiership: Change the colour to Pink? Change the name to Bristol Tigers? Sack good people for no reason? Employee an ex-rapist as a player? Employee someone who has killed someone after driving a car drunk? Merge with Rovers? Rename Ashton Gate the "Loan Shark Stadium" Have a brothel as our shirt sponsor (ok this one might actually be funny - discounts??) Play our games 40 miles outside Bristol? Tell the fans they don't matter at all because "I own the club" Put the club at massive financial risk if the owner gets bored and moves his money (which has been LOANED to the club) PS I'm not saying all these things have happened at Cardiff - just wondering what we would "put up with"?
I wouldn't mind a merge with rovers as long as we played in a stadium with a capacity of at least 40,000. If the 2 clubs merged then there would be a lot of Bristol support resulting in bigger gates and better atmospheres.
40 mikes is not far enough away for Tan in my opinion, back in Malaysia would be a good idea. Swap a rich owner/supporter for a Rich, Glory grabbing, possible asset sripping idiot who has no knowledge about football and supporters, just for a season or two's glory followed by administration and possible death of the club. Know which one I would prefer. Merge with Rovers??? let me think about that? No thank you, think that would piss off more supporters than it would bring in and crowds wouldn't be any bigger, I for one would probably start supporting Bristol Rugby.
We need a Tan like Bruce Forsythe needs a holiday in the sun Merging though Its an interesting idea which I cant quite get my head around. Feels a bit unnatural somehow, not quite decent you know However, stranger things have happened Far more likely is a ground share - it works for AC & Inter
Is it all that matters to supporters today, top flight football. Truthfully i'd rather watch my team play non league football than have someone like that run us. The Premier League has become nothing but a TV Game. League One ain't that bad all said and done.
Perhaps that was a little naive of me, couldn't imagine the 2 sets of fans mixing as highlighted in the Bristol derby.
It is likely that if u were to merge the two clubs u might end up with even less supporters with fans trying to form FC versions of their former clubs
I want nothing to do with Bristol Rovers FC, never will, I simply have no thoughts about it, they deserve, as we do all they get, nothing from me as long as I breathe.
Im sure someone would buy out one of the local none league sides and name them FC bristol city seems the normal thing
