Lets get this going early. Next up, in our quest for an outside chance of the play offs is a home tie vs improving Birmingham City. Birmingham did what we couldn't do last time out, beat Blackpool away. ( Outside note, Blackpool 5-1 for relegation and cannot buy a win!?!? ) Birmingham possess a squad with some talented players - Zigic, Macheda, Burke, and Lovenkrands for starters. That appears on paper a very decent front four indeed...... Without McGoldrick, SEB some way off fitness, Taylor appearing out of favour ( though did 90 for reserves Monday interestingly ) it appears Nouble/Murphy will be the front partnership again. This in all seriousness petrifies me! I cannot see for the life in me how we are going to score in open play with them two, combined with a midfield that doesn't do goals! ( Please prove me wrong positively, this always pleases me ! ) I'm going to plump for a 1-1 draw that will do nothing for our play off quest, or an awful lot for Birmingham's season. They traveled on-mass last season, with 2000 ' invading ' Portman Road. Note, we did away tickets for a reasonable fee for their game last term. It's over 30 a ticket for them this time I think, so I'd imagine 650 will come or so. Shame. Att with this laughable ' special offer ' of a fiver off the Wigan game if bought with the Brum ticket will do nothing for our shocking numbers. 16200.
If we start with the same eleven as Saturday I can't really see us getting much out of the game. For me, Mick has it the wrong way around. Instead of starting with Nouble/Tabb and then bringing more attacking players on when we need to chase the game I think he should be starting with the likes of SEB and then bring him off if he begins to fade. I'm not a big fan of starting off defensively, I think we should try to get ahead in the match first before shutting up shop. Prediction..........2-0 loss unfortunately.
I just want Mick to try something different....He's a very experienced manager, and surely he can see that we are struggling, and to mix things up a bit and try something new. If he doesn't, and sticks with the same team, i.e Nouble/Murphy up front, and Green/Skuse/Tabb in the middle, then i can't see us getting anything out of this game (maybe might nick a 1-1 draw) If he decides to go experimental, and try and attack Birmingham, then we'll have a good chance of winning this, possibly 3-2. And you know what, i don't care if we lose, as long as the team try, and Mick has tried something different.
Hmmm, no creativity, no goals = no hope SADLY (yes sadly) i cant see anything other than a defeat, especially if he sticks with the same ****e as the last few games!! if Mick decides to go for it then we have a chance but............
we always have a hope of getting (grinding) out a result as we're good off the ball. It'll be a tight game but one of huff and puff I'm going for a 2-0 win with Nouble getting both. I also hope Mick goes for it a bit more but I get the feeling when we're more backs to the wall he actually goes more defensive. Apparently Taylor and Wordsworth put in good shifts for the reserves, as did Garvan. At least give them a try, they can't do any worse than Tabb or Nouble, problem is 1 mistake with them and I'm pretty sure they'd be out of the team but Tabb and Nouble can make many mistakes and still be picked!!
You and me both Spanish, Nouble two goals in a game!?!? I have a feeling based on Taylor playing 90 Monday for the reserves, he's going to be the man to partner Murphy tomorrow. Phil on TWTD has a feeling it'll be them two also. Blimey guys, we have a game tomorrow and ONLY 4 responses to a thread! I guess sums up the general vibe to all things Ipswich Town at the moment. I think we all feel the season is more or less done. However, lets beat Birmingham tomorrow and get our season back on track Come on Williams, have a cracking debut and run the show when you come on ( I hope ! ) second half. Bit concerned about SEB, no under 21 action Monday. Will he be in the squad, has any injury flared up!? Perhaps it could be ALAN LEE, GOAL! time tomorrow...!?
This is a mustn't lose game if we have any hopes of keeping our season alive which means MM is likely to go defensive (as always). But saying that I think, and hope, he mixes the team up a little. 1-0 16,500 GK:Gerken RB:Chambers CB:Smith CB:Berra LB:Cresswell RW:Anderson DM:Green DM:Skuse LW:Hunt ST:Taylor ST:Murphy
0-1. Cannot see where the life of me the goals are going to come from. Another dismal performance with a lack of creativity - again. Obviously hope i'm wrong though.
I'm going to be bold and back MM to be a little more adventurous.. Gerks Chambo | Berra | Smith | Cressy Green| Skuse | Williams Taylor | Nouble | Murph 3-0 home win and all three of Tayls, Nouble and Murph to score Birmingham to finish the game with 10 men
Sorry mate its getting to a point that he gets so much stick that i find myself rooting for him..........i'm a sucker for the plucky underdog...
I would be ecstatic if he got a brace tomorrow & nobody would be more pleased for him than me....but can you really see it happening.?
