Away from our relegation concerns, who do you think may be climbing into the Promised Land this May? Leicester are virtually nailed on but are QPR going to miss out? Will Derby edge Burnley? Another interesting finish in prospect. Thoughts anyone?
second is going to be close, i fancy either burnley or derby, QPR are dropping off. play offs, who knows, QPR should win it on paper but it's a lottery
Wigan have been pretty strong of late, they may have timed their form well to get a play-off spot at least. They seem to be pretty good in cup-style matches, and have the Wembley experience to help them too, so I wouldn't rule them out just yet.
Hopefully the 3 Clubs still in the race with the weakest squads and lowest resources. Gives us a better chance of staying up next year!!!
I am starting to think Burnley can make 2nd as long as they keep Ings and Vokes fit and free of suspensions. Having read the QPR board, it is often said that they have failed to beat any other team in the top 6 this season, so the play-offs are something of a worry to them.
I think everyone has been expecting Burnley to tail off this season but credit where it is due, they have been a very good attacking side that deserve every bit of their current 2nd place.. That said if any team had a 40 goal strike partnership (by this stage) they would be right up there... even some of the dreadful sides in this league. I would say Leicester have been consistently the best side this season and have a decent enough side to have a stab at the Premier League. Wigan are my shout for the play offs and fancy them to finish 3rd this season.. QPR to finish 5th and lose in the play off final and then go into absolute disarray
Uncle Festa and Burnley in the autos with Derby beating QPR 3-0 in the play-off final (Chrissy Martin hat-trick )
I actually hope that Ipswich do come up (so long as we stay up...) I'm getting more and more confident that we will, though. A DYK If Ipswich don't come up, we stay up and we are not drawn against them in a Cup match, come February 2015 it will be the longest period without an Old Farm Derby since WWII
In reality I think Leicester are the only team that look as if they could hold their own though in the Prem and they will need to strengthen significantly. The gap is becoming virtually unbridgeable in my opinion.
At the moment you can't really look past the form teams. It seems it's between Burnley and Derby for the 2nd auto spot and either of those teams is likely to win in their play off matches. Wigan might have late charge but I just think the top 3 have shown that they are the best teams at the moment, not that that always matters in the play offs.
Its so hard to judge, people though that Cardiff would be the only ones of the three last year to come up who would stay up, currently they could be the only ones to go down. People were certain that we'd go down as we had just been promoted from league one but were still here. The reality is until you see how a team plays when the momentum from being promoted has stalled you can't really tell
