Assuming we can stay up and there is no reason why we cant playing football like we are without our strongest side,Then i can see us with monk promoted to manager by then actually challenging for a European place in our own right, All we need is to regroup in the summer and bring in 4 or 5 right players who our scouts should be starting now to identify that would fit into our style of football and the sky is the limit. It is a shame we have not been able to commit 100% to the cup matches because we have done really well without being at full strength. this shows how good we are at playing this system and as long as we get safe (3 wins should do it) then we can really give everything a go next season...

Tbh Dai, if we keep everyone, then another striker and centre back would be enough in my opinion.

Agree on the three wins Dai, and perhaps a draw or two and we'll be safe.

Given the promise Bartley showed against Everton, should Cardiff go down we should go and get Caulker. That would give us Ash, Chico, Caulker, Bartley and Amat. We need a decent back up striker though.

Let's stay up first before we consider the premiership next season. Yes the signs are good due to the return to our high tempo style of play. As we all know this is a results business and under Monk we have already played 6 winning only 1 drawing 2 and losing 3, not the kind of form we need to stay in premiership.

Can always spin it the other way. Played 3 league games, won 1 drawn 1 and lost 1. Could well be 2 wins by this time Sunday with 7points from 12.

You not positive then sbulbe....just think we could have been in a far worse position if useless was here..<laugh> At least we are playing positive football again at a difficult time where we have not been able to play a full strength side due to where we are in the league...Brilliant effort i call it...<ok>

So proud to be a Jack tonight - thought we were the better side over the two European games; a cruel deflection giving the second goal away when we looked the more likely to progress. No shame in defeat to a European giant, and the manner of defeat was far and above any recent display with Laudrup at the helm. Will always be grateful for what ML achieved with us, but it was time for change - our performances have been transformed since Monk took charge and am thoroughly enjoying watching the Swans play again.

You can dress it up any way you like but at the end of the day it's points on the board that count. I'm getting a little fed up with the same old story "we were the better side but lost" I don't give a toss who the manager is its a results business and I want to see positive results. In fact if we lose to Palace Sunday (God forbid) it will be the worse start by a swansea manager since Nick Cussack.

We all want to see positive results - but positive performances may just achieve them!! Sorry to hear that you are so fed up; maybe we should have stuck with ML and sleepwalked toward relegation. Monk has got us back to playing with a speed and intensity that was missing recently under Laudrup - results will follow - of that I am certain! So KTF Mr Bulb! If we keep these levels of performance we are going to destroy some teams!

Garry Monk had his priority of the PL game against Palace, that much was clear from the starting line up, but we still played a very good game, and clearly he could have played Rangel instead of Taylor, but wanted Rangel fresh for Palace. Monk has been thrown in the deep end because of Laudrup's ego, and his clueless motivation of our team this season, so those crying over Laudrup's departure need to cut Monk some slack, the boy is doing good as far as I see it. This season under Monk is now damage limitation, and as Dai correctly states, next season we will regroup and progress under a manager that can connect with his team, and share the same plane when they travel, and not isolate himself on his private jet!................<ok>

1 win in 6...not that good especially as he pretty much has a full squad to chose from. Performances have improved but at the end of the day it's about results ain't it.

His decision to bring on Taylor cost us the game today. We got more defensive, sat further back and invited them to attack....which they did, knowing that we had nullified our counter attack ability. Britton on for Canas would have been better IMO....and before going on about resting players, it didn't really come into consideration last Thursday, so why would it today.

I'm also curious phil as to how many points you think we should have had after the WHU game. I think only Valley offered his opinion out of the anti Laudrup brigade. Both you and Dai, the most vocal against ML, didn't bother. Where do you think we should've been given the cup games, injuries, and tricky fixture list. I had us down for 27 points up to the WHU game, 48 for full season. ....so ML was 3 points off my estimate. Not bad for a clueless manager.

Oh, and what did you hear down the pub?...or will you remain elusive on that as well.............<cheers>

your forgetting how much laudrup destroyed the whole clubs confidence and how much work it will now take to get rid of any trace of laudrups ways. Its down to laudrup that we had to mismatch sides to compete in these matches and as far as i can see all of us at the liberty are very happy with progress. I just hope we can turn things around from the mess laudrup left behind to stay clear of the drop and on the evidence so far then im confident we will...

What exactly do you mean by that? Laudrup's ways <laugh>
He didn't leave us in a mess. He left us in a similar league position and in the latter stages of 2 huge cup competitions...with a squad much, much, much more valuable thanks to him.

Your arguments to the contrary are truly laughable.

Whatever the arguments Terror, you're certainly right about our scouting system (or lack thereof) I think GM could probably convince good players from abroad to sign for us if he gets the chance to talk to them (his knowledge of the club, his passion & his eloquence should be enough) so we don't need to sign a manager "for their contacts" as you say.

However I'm starting to think we could do with a very clever head-scout or even director of football to oversee this aspect. Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure the board buy into that type of thinking...will have to wait and see.

    Surely he's at a disadvantage though due to;
    - having never played abroad
    - only speaks English
    - No managerial pedigree
    - No playing pedigree (most won't know who he is)
    - No understanding of foreign markets...does he know what the going rate is in various European markets? Does he have an agent who does who won't charge us the earth?
    - does he or Jenkins and co. have contacts with the suits of European football?

I'm sorry I admire your optimism but I doubt it. I can see us signing the Pilkington's of this world. (all well and good but the sky will most certainly not be the limit)

Laudrup ( when he ever turned up) showed no interest at all about the premiership all he wanted was to boost his chances in Europe..end of....Well he got his comeuppance and it was monk who gets the glory for the excellent display the players done against a top European side.....Justice have been done finally and its what a number of us were calling for because we knew what was going on....I'm chuffed to bits with the outcome and laudrup can go and manage in the lower leagues where he belongs because he will never get to manage a big club in his lifetime....<ok>
