Think the concern Sid is if they'll have ever met each other prior to 20/8, a lot of changes, need time to gel. But you're likely to be in the same boat.

I've got the impression that he'll invest the money somewhere else maybe in the stock exchange and try to double it and use it only if we're in trouble ...

I wondered how long before people started shouting about the AC £35mill (which I'm sure will have interest on top of it)
Give them time to line the players up they want, we want quality as well as quantity which has a very fine line and I'm sure Graham Carr has and is working overtime at the minute.

I agree we are playing a risky game with some of the players we are clearing out, but as been said before "Wait until the end of the transfer window before casting judgement"

Ashley is a business man and can see the benefit and yes the profit in the club doing well, so the claims of asset stripping is bollocks because it'll devalue any selling on price of the club!!!

As much as I dislike Mike Ashley, it cannot be denied that he has put far more money into the club than he has taken out.

So having five different managers in no way contributed?

I agree, but the fact remains that people who accuse Ashley of taking money out of the club are wrong. His motives for turning NUFC into a stable, profitable, Premiership club are for his benefit, not ours or the club's.

Keegan bottled it, Kinnear stupid appointment but could he really see that he was going to have to leave due to illness!? Hughton had to take over as care taker....we can't appoint a manager with in a space of days and unfortunately appointing Shearer was a mistake to be fair but can anyone say we'd be safe if Mourinho had taken over then? i doubt it. Too many mercenaries at the club, players bottling it when it got tough sent us down

Which is absolutely fine. His interests and ours are exactly the same, a sustainable, successful club that makes a profit. Unlike some I've no issue whatsoever with him wanting a return on his investment, and frankly if he can build a stronger team without spending a penny of the Carroll transfer fee I'd be delighted. If he does that, then signs someone crazy for 30m all the better.

I agree with this to be fair. The Kinnear appointment was a mistake and the Keegan situation I have always felt was mostly down to KK throwing a hissy fit.

Ashley did make mistakes but ultimately the players we had should still have been able to keep us safe had they not bottled it and underperformed as well.

Players and Managers are still on holiday, so the transfer window wont kick off until the end of the month when everyone is back... theres still plenty of time to go, so if your worrying at this stage, then your going to have a long summer!!

Sorry, but if I wanted to support a well run business I'd support Ikea. I'm not unreasonable, I don't expect Ashley to pump hundreds of millions into the club, and nor do I want that, but if our local hero, our number nine, our talisman leaves the club with a substantial stack of cash coming in the other direction, I expect us as supporters to be compensated for our loss by seeing a substantial part of it spent on exciting players. As it stands we look just as likely to make a profit again in this window than we are to spend £20m (which is enough of it for me).

I understand what you are saying AG and you are one of the people on here who I respect the most, but I feel that the £35 million will be used for the benefit of the club as promised with probably £20-25 million being spent on transfers, just have a little patience.<ok>

He's been put on the transfer list according to several newspapers. Asking price £4m. There are a few threads today about it with links to chronicle etc.
