Interesting that they 'turned down sposorship offers' to put that on the shirt. Gethin's made comments that 'we are running a business', yet they turn down revenue. Hope that isn't going to impact Malkay's spending this year.

I imagine the Malaysians are behind this :) a positive sign of their commitment to the club and I am sure they are backing MM with significant transfer funds. An exciting few weeks lay ahead!

I doubt this decision would have been taken lightly remote.
I guess TG and VT know their own country and businesses out there so any potential to raise our profile over there can only lead to increased income in the long run (assuming it all goes to plan that is).

I agree Hbomb. There will have been much discussion around this. In some ways it excites me that they could and did turn down that income. They obviously think they can generate the equivalent or more through 'Malaysia' related channels. This is likely to be a slower burn than a one off sponsorship so as is said, it shows longer term commitment. I hope it goes to the club and not them though!

New kit is very stylish :) I usually take time to like new kits (they grow on me more like, 04/05's took ages haha) but this one I like straight away!

I really like this shirt, as I predicted in a previous thread it does look like the other Puma kits floating about, kinda wish it had the collar of other ones tho. Still a very nice shirt and to be sponsored by a whole country is rather cool in my eyes, I wonder if any City fans were to wear one with pride on holiday in Malaysia they would be looked upon with great respect and reverie?

I don't think this decision would have been made for a season in the Premiership as the added profile would already exist and the revenue would be bigger, so turning their backs on a bigger sum!

Like the idea though and they know more than we ever could imagine about the market in their homeland and the revenue potential for building up a support base.

There was comment on BBC606 ages ago from somebody who went to a Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne I think - behind the bar they had a Cardiff scarf or flag up and the owner said that the club is now Malaysian as well as Welsh - the potential is there and our board are tapping into it nicely!

You must be so proud. Where are all the morons like Clash and co who always had a right go at the Jacks for waving the Union flag at the Liberty? Now you've got your players wearing the name of a country thousands of miles away on your SHIRT! And this is a GOOD thing?

    Laughable.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were paid for by Malaysian Tourist Board or equivalent.
