Galilleo springs to mind. The difference is, science designs planes: religion flies them into buildings.

    Well Captain Kirk had three.

Left ear, right ear and the final front ear.

I'd let God know just how tiresome you have become - but I'm too late as he already knows! One day you'll learn the difference between faith and religion and just maybe how crafty politicians use religious teachings to justify their own perverted ends. But I think that's still a little beyond you presently.

No piloting instructions in the Koran

    edit: Qur'an to be correct.

Pythagoras created his own religion Pythagoreanism. Lots of mysticism, metaphysics and contemplation of the soul and the void all mixed in with a central love of mathematics.

Imagine if all his work was dismissed as the rantings of a religious lunatic.

Lobsang Rampa was always promising to give specific instructions for astral travelling but never did seem to get round to it. Perhaps he never hit his financial target from all those books - therefore nothing was ever revealed!

I could highlight my point with factual evidence, photographs and witnesses but that would be pointless as you'd ignore it all and hold your breath until someone acknowledges you.

<laugh> There was a programme a while ago that showed if you yawn in front of a dog it will yawn back at you. Doesn't happen with any other animal.

eh?? I was responding to Livtor's claim that science can answer every physical element on earth [or something, not going back to check]. I wasn't proposing that religion could, that wasn't part of his claim. It's sounding like an us v them which isn't what I'm trying to do. Science can't answer everything and by saying that, I'm not suggesting that religion can and don't know why you would think that.

Apparently, so am I, according to Livtor :)
I wonder what it is: A distinct lack of comprehension? An inability to read properly?

Or perhaps just a need to try and get a reaction?

Well Livtor has already told me he 'foresaw' one of my responses - maybe he is science <yikes> and that's why he's so touchy

I thought it also happened with a few others? Chimps, for example.

Don't really care what Livtor's game is as he is just pissing-off everybody with his comments and attitude. DD on the other hand is just trying to annoy you and put you in a position which he feels is vulnerable enough for him to deliver a knockout blow as he sees it. I don't think he can cope with the fact that the strength of faith kicks-in when knowledge runs out!

I think there's been good discussion on here. I've never tried to do an us v them as I said in the earlier post but one person has gone out of his way to try and be divisive.

You may well be right. I'm still holding to 'methinks the lady doth protest too much' on that one.

Religion is a subject that has divided people for millennia, and usually in a far more tragic way than a few blokes on a footie forum.
It is difficult for anyone to try and push their view because it does, by definition, deny the alternatives.
As long as we keep it respectful, then we'll just have to accept that we see things differently.
Fortunately, God will exist (or not), regardless of whether or not we believe in him.
