I believe that saying science explains everything is just the hypostatisation of an abstraction. Not so much that it is false as that it lacks meaning.

I foresaw you might swerve like that. That's why i didn't use the word 'everything', but referred to 'the workings of the physical world'.

So, without referring to 'everything', but referring just to the concrete physical world... What's your answer to the same question?

Then you need to do your research and read back a bit.

The answer to your loaded (admitted by yourself) question is NO.

If you wish to play silly games then no science on its own cannot control or explain everything in the physical world if only because that world contains people who are not fixed within scientific formulae. The impact of the decisions of those people can ensure that what science predicts should happen may in fact not happen or vice versa.

Just to annoy you and therefore feed your childish tirade those people may or may not be people of faith.

Are you just playing at being stupid or does it come naturally? Anybody with any intelligence would know that saint has already answered that question for you!

Like I said, do your research. You'll find the answer to that question, and many more, in the first few pages of the thread.
I'm not going to repeat myself because you're too lazy to look, and I'm not going to get drawn into one of your frankly immature attempts to engage me in a pointless argument.

Patience, dave, as science inevitably clears its own junk, so we said. A scientist may be faulty or inconsistent, but the lattice of science eventually repels faults and inconsistencies.

In a mere millenium or so, most questions of the physical world many wonder about today and use as gateways to let God through, will be solved and framed.

So science is king but first needs to annihilate mankind to be so. Well as mankind will not be around to see that supposed wondrous day it won't make any difference to us at all. So I'll leave you to your scientific frustrations whilst I continue with my faith.

Mankind's ability to navigate science is redundant to my point and was brought on for illustration. We as a race in fact may never reach the intellectual capacity necessary to grasp what science has to say. Some other race in the universe may, or may not.

Regardless, we should know enough to infer that the physical world is governed by a consistent structure explainable through science.

Now prove it. If your theory is correct then it will be capable of withstanding the scientific test. So go to it sonny. Until then it's just so much hot air!

It may seem that I reply to you, dave, but in reality I don't really reply to you. I've long given up on you. I reply so other more intelligent people can get engaged and contribute.

Livtor - science hasn't been able to come up with an accurate measurement of the coastline of the U.S. yet [the CIA says it's officially 12,380 miles, the NOAA says 95,471 miles!!!] or explain why we yawn or how cats purr, how can it be relied on then to explain our existence?

I remember reading years ago that we yawn because of the inherited inner ear stimulation from the homo habilis genus. Apparently, (way, way, way) back in the day, when in groups and tired, we would yawn to expose our teeth to any potential predators that would be watching over, or to each other when trying to establish the alpha of the group. The group connection would all yawn too to ward off and say: "we may be tired, but we will bite the **** out of you".

I have never seen this explanation again however, so could have been a load of bollocks.
