According to reports in France Rennes forward Paul-Georges Ntep has been convicted for violence towards his girlfriend. The former Auxerre player was a target for QPR in the last transfer window but Rennes beat the West London side to his signature.

France Football have reported on yesterday’s trial were Ntep was given a three month suspended sentence by the criminal court for the alleged attack on his ex girlfriend in July 2013 on. On French radio after the trial he was warned by the prosecution that he needed to change his ways in the interest of the public. The prosecutor said that Ntep has a good career ahead but in private he does display psychopath behaviour.

"There is greenness and violence in the language of both sides, but I represent the public interest, and Mr. Ntep must change his behaviour. He is favoured by his talents, he has a great career open to him, but in private, he was true psychopath behaviour,” said the prosecutor to French radio.

TMW have reported during the last transfer window that Auxerre president Guy Cotret had received a bid from QPR for Ntep but it didn’t met the valuation set by the French club. TMW didn’t go as far to disclose what QPR offered but it is likely that is was lower than the €6m fee his club Auxerre were asking. Rennes agreed to pay this but the ultimate decision came down to the player. Rennes managed to offer the personal terms he is wanting and he therefore joined the French side at the end of January.

Going off the events over the past few days it seems that QPR have had a lucky escape in their pursuit for Ntep. The player undoubtedly has talent but he does come with baggage which could have unsettled the squad in their promotion bid.

Seems to fit the profile well, and he'll be cheaper now. He, Barton and Simpson can try cage fighting in training.

Our club has had enough players with baggage to fill everyone of Tonz Air Asia collection ports around the world.
Lucky we managed one way or another to side-step this boofhead.
