Whenever a manager gets a new contract the team always falters afterwards for a period.

This is therefore not the time to go offerring a new contract to Brendan.

if that's true then its a big no for doing it now.

only have 12 games or so left, no time for messing about.

was wondering if it could have a positive impact on the players, but not after seeing that stat.

Why are you constantly pushing people to 'commit'. Are you a control freak? <whistle>

I said 'best' answer atm. just to be nice to your heightened sensitivities. No commitment.

You have some kind of opinion you're leaning towards, esp after reading 20 or so from fellow posters, don't you?

What are you still evaluating? What's you dilemma? Maybe we can help.

Maybe you think that BR does deserve it, but are bothered by the fact that managers that renew midseason go on a slump?

I think the decision re contract shouldn't be made now as we are in a pivotal flux in the race atm - the race is still open below and above us. If FSG give him a new contract now, that would mean that they are quite sasfied with 4th. Which they shouldn't be 'at the moment'.

When the season is over, wherever we are, Rodgers deserves as a sign of appreciation a new contract imo.

good point, i was more concerned with brynners comment though about performance drop when new contracts offered, we only have 12 or so games left, cant afford **** ups or the chance of them happening.

He'll get a new contract, pretty damn sure on that - he's ahead of schedule for what FSG expected with the 3 year plan. Even if we drop back to 5th, we've improved massively on last season and the season before.

Why does it have to be public though? Couldn't give a rats arse about publicly offering him a new contract. Players aren't going to join for the 'Rodgers' factor - give him another 5 years for that to prove himself - so all it would do is heap pressure on him from the media.

Give him one now or in the summer, don't care when, but don't tell the media squat. Look at Rooney for public contracts gone wrong...just a barrage of abuse about the fat t**t's 300k granny binge earnings and how his performances have to now be up there with Messi and Ronaldo based on wages. Right. No pressure, champ.
