Well he's older than JE... Not overly enthused by this signing myself - I mean, only yesterday he was negotiating with Sydney Olympic in the NSW State league....
Still ruining football... by making a profit; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-26336126 "Premier League football clubs have "wasted" £1.2bn over the last ten years through buying and selling players, a financial analyst has told the BBC. Stephen Clapham calculated the difference in cost between the money clubs spent in buying players, and the amount gained through transfer sales. Mr Clapham said the only three clubs to make a profit were Watford, who only competed in the league for one of the ten seasons studied, Manchester United and Arsenal. He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme this proves "it's not necessary to lose money on buying and selling players" in order to find success on the pitch."
Lucas Neill I suspect might have got a contract with us more through circumstances than desire to sign someone of his age. Fitz Hall out injured, reports that after his court case Nos was going north, then Saturday Cassetti was heavily strapped up and had to come off. Ekstrand starting a ban, does leave us rather short of defenders. Two positives though. He will want to prove that he is good enough still to get into his international side, and he will speak something similar to English.
You'd hope that by the age of 36 Neill's hot-headedness was on the wane. It's clearly to cover defensive emergencies than long-term but anyone able to give a bit more onfield encouragement would be welcome. The Pozzo policy of developing players to make them attractive in the transfer market won't have served them very well this season...
I mentioned this to a colleague who supports West Ham, and he said that Neill was "crap when he was with us, and that was about 10 years ago". It was actually from 05 to 07.
This move for Neill makes a mockery out the fact that we sold John Eustace and Hoggy, both of them were "leaders" and could easily have continued to do a job for us this season. In fact look how well Eustace, Hoggy, craig Forsyth, Vydra and even Joe Garner are doing for their respective teams, to be replaced by Fabrinni, Iriney, Bellerin, Thorne, Acuna, McEachan, Faraoni and of course the latest supreme Watford player of all time..........Samba Diakite. On an amusing note, I can't wait for Diakite to return in his "snug" shorts
Defensive cover up until the end of this season !!!!!!!!!! We all know now that Fitz Hall is an injury prone man and however sad, shouldn't be given ANY more contracts despite how good his is WHEN he is fit.
The Charlton game has been rearranged: http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/140429-charlton-away-fixture-1361162.aspx This means that our last 3 away games are in the space of 9 days and against 2 teams going for promotion and 1 trying to stay up, as things stand now.
Not too many holds barred in this article by Frank Smith. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ial_for_assessing_if_Nani_is_worth_the_money/
Amazing how many ins and outs since the Pozzo's took over and Nani has been incharge....must be a scroll more than a list !!
So our saviour is now an aging aussie Don Nani`s obviously (and hopefully) got to the end of his phone numbers book from West Ham days! I have to admit to having lost the excitement of last season and indeed the start of this one, it has been replaced by one of indifference ,the annoying thing is I cant nail down why! Only decent watford news of late is the progress of the new (half) East stand. what makes this even worse is my Dad is elated at Derbys progress and wifey is paying attention to florests doing well . Oh well Better luck next season .
http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/fc-...1010_2012_default_default_alle_a_default.html and you can change the year to show annual movements. Shows all the ins and outs under Nani....
Yes good article.... honest analysis... and yes what is going on? Why with this great scouting network are we signing and ageing almost-has-been????
No real story except how to delay a judgement. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11043216.Discussions_ongoing_regarding_LNOC_case/
I have a dilemma. Do I go to the Vic this Saturday? If I go then that is the whole day gone and I really need to dig my allotment. They say that not much grows this time of year, but let me assure you that unwanted weeds grow like the clappers and if I don't dig on Saturday I will be behind, and once behind with jobs ,it is difficult to catch up especially this early in the year. It seems that the football has not been that good in the last couple of games. Will the game be good enough to get behind with the allotment or not? That is my dilemma. Oh, and thanks OFH for showing us that happy, smiling face again.
I really hope that the FA are doing a proper investigation and not looking for a reason to do nothing. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11043228.FA_still_to_conclude_racist_report/
The tournament was payed in Italy, so wouldn't it have been under the jurisdiction of the Italian FA? If so, then they should be the ones who investigate, not the FA.
