Torres was always going to decline because of his reliance on pace and acceleration, it just happened sooner than expected. But I thought he had the abilities to still be effective in other way, obviously not. Michael Owen was another one, I knew from very early on that he would struggle once the pace went and it clearly did. Suarez isn't the quickest anyway so losing some pace won't affect him as much. It will be more in liking to Robbie Fowler and Jamie Carragher.
That's an interesting point. A front 3 of Ronaldo, Suarez, and Bale - all interchanging would be immense. (I thought Bale would flop at Real, but he's having a very good first season after a dodgy start. I expect him to excel next season) For Barca just simply stick Suarez on the pitch with Messi and it would be devastating.
Hope Real succeed this year so they don't feel they have to poach Suarez of us, even if it is for 70mil. No way they can afford that anyway, not after Bale, and we wouldn't accept installments
Sorry for the rant, but this is annoying me.... ATLETICO- Madrid ATHLETIC- Bilbao. Don't combine the two, lol. Sorry.
may suit that league better, not sure he is skillful enough for our league, looks too clumsy. he might be dif where he has time on the ball, vorinin an example, he had some skills but couldn't cope with the pace of the prem.
i got my wires crossed and you are on about a dif cissokho to the one we have? if so why the mention he might be going to athletico, is he crap or something?
The Uruguay international, 27, was expected to leave the Premier League club in the off-season, trying to get a move to a club involved in the UEFA Champions League. Suarez eventually accepted he would remain with Brendan Rodgers' side and signed a new contract in December last year. Speaking to the April issue of FourFourTwo, Suarez revealed the 'massive part' Gerrard played in convincing him to stay. "He didn't talk about me, or through me, in the press, but in person," Suarez said. "In those moments I forgot that he was world football great Gerrard, a Liverpool legend, but as a humble person, who spoke to me with all his heart for hours. "He said I was the best forward he'd ever played with, which given the amazing strikers that he's played with at Liverpool, was amazing for me to hear. "I'll never forget that." Suarez has played a key role in helping Liverpool into the Champions League places in the Premier League, scoring 23 times. And despite his disciplinary issues, Suarez was handed the captain's armband in Gerrard's absence in December. "It was weird – strange," Suarez said. "I'd never imagined myself as Liverpool skipper. After everything that had happened with me, to retain the support of the club, the coach and my team-mates showed me they were happy to forget and forgive. "It proved that my commitment to the club and to my team-mates is genuine and that I'm giving the maximum. "Everyone here lives to help the club. Being Liverpool captain is something that validates you and makes you feel appreciated because there have been some fantastic leaders here."
No way we'd ever pay that much. Andy Carroll was an anomaly and a painful one brought out of desperation. Isco more likely to succeed than Andy... but I doubt we will sign anyone over £30 mill... not in next few years at least... I'm sure the way player inflation goes up we will one day... but not this summer.
Linked to Luke Shaw again. Not really much chance though with do many other high spending clubs after him.
I think he will go to Chelsea and be the next ruined career. Only other club I've seen linked is Man Utd, surely we'd have at least as much chance of signing him as the mancs if we get CL football? Transfer fee might be a issue for us though
Wouldn't say he'd ruin his career moving to Chelsea. He'll pretty much be first choice LB and with it be playing at top level in Prem, in CL and help cement him as the England LB.
I agree he is better than what they have (should Cole leave) Lukaku should be first choice for them too but they sent him out on loan #chelsealogic
