What an absolute joke. If this is taken seriously it will spell the end of football.

precedent here is that a player consents to what could be considered 'normal' footballing challenges / tackles happening to him, this is so subjective that its clearly not worth persuing, especially as its only for £50k.

if he can prove olifinjana meant to injure him he's quids in, but good luck with proving that in court Mr Blackstock....<ok>

He has no chance of suing anyone, He signed up for a contact sport and tackles happen every game, He is insured and its not as if he wont get paid while off injured anyway. What does he expect during a game not to be tackled as the player says sod this im not going to be sued.<laugh>

you can actually dai, in exceptional circumstances. if i go up to you and have no interest in getting the ball and intend to injure you, you could get damages, the problem is its clearly very difficult to get proof as to whether olofinjana intended to injure or was so over the top as that it couldnt be considered to be normal and expected on a football field.

I have seen it in rugby but not football. Unless it is proved he deliberately went into the match with the intention of injuring a player thenhe will have a right job of proving that....Rugby is slightly different because there are certain tackles that are banned and if caught doing any of these tackles its an instant dismissal and should the injured player wish he can pursue civil action against the player who did it.....I have never heard this in football i must admit...

I knew tackling was a dying art, but this could be the end of it. Not that our players do much of it anyway :emoticon-0110-tongu

another nail in the coffin for the game>>>>>tell you what the players and clubs need 2 have a good look at themselves>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>football is a laughing stock and it gets worse by the season.

can anyone tell me where man utd got theyre 300.000 pounds worth from rooney on tues(squad wise a million pound a week in wages maybe more)......can anyone justify this money chucked at players these days>>>>>>>>>>why ARE players going backwards in technical abilities on the ball when wages are on the up along with entrance prices for a bore fest of Saturday entertainment.

rooney and the likes snapping up a van gogh for the price of a hospital wing hey.

the game makes me PUKE and im glad I don't put a penny towards it anymore

I have to agree with you Aber.

The fact that I have followed Cardiff for 30 years is the only reason I am still watching football. Actually, I only watch Cardiff play these days as football in itself does not bring me enjoyment anymore.

Too many players who think they are better than they are, too much money, and too much bias. The PL has highlighted to me this season everything that I hate about football.

After nearly 55 years of solid support Aber I have stated that this is my last season i will ever put another penny into football, we have food banks in 2014 ffs, the country is in a mess but we can pay a single player £300k every week...Its downright obscene..

oh shut up with that stupid comparison you keep making. whilst you're at it lets stop any film star earning over £1m a movie as we have 'food banks'. lets go back to the old days of players on the maximum wage and hit and hope and have the same quality of football....NOT...

when you cleaned the bogs at the vetch, if we offered you double to clean our bogs you'd snap our hands off, you wouldnt think, hey there are people in poverty, no thanks.......

Can't argue at the obscene amount of money now in the game again demonstrated with this Rooney deal, but all this moralising over it on here is doing my head in.

You don't have to condone it let alone like it, but you either accept it as the way it's gone and get on with it, or find the nearest tree and string yourself up.

There's no doubt that the inequality in life is monstrous the world over, but FFS, this is where we are with football in this country - that's what we're talking about. Whilst there's so much cash being thrown about in the game, there will be winners and losers. Football and its' rewards are not the real world - it's fantasy stuff that people like us can only sit back and watch unfold in front of us.

Don't want to fall out with other posters over this, but this board is starting to reflect our position in the table. If we were mid table right now and relatively comfortable, there'd be a different atmosphere on here. The issues are totally different, but we're in danger of politicising this football forum at the expense of its' enjoyment.

As for Dai from another club joining in - well. that's Dai. Strongly held opinions are one thing and people must do what they feel is right, but FFS give it a rest Dai - if you don't want to watch it live anymore, then that's fine. Give your season ticket money to Medecins Sans Frontieres or the like - I'm sure you'll feel better for it.

There have been several precedents of damages being awarded. The common law of negligence applies to football like the playground.

im sure a cleaner earns his or hers money per week however small the pay packet is>>>>>>>>I know I do, they the company make sure they get the maximum effort for the minimum pay.......and then I see the likes of them that cant cross cant put a ball past the first defender with a corner kick..they are not even hitting the target from six yards out ffs>>>>>>>>>>if I fail in my job I get the boot not a fking multi million pound pay out like malky and the others>>>>>the banking system rules are rife in our game and it fking shows <ok>

that's one off the reasons I don't put my money into the game I loved any more :D .......there others of init but I havnt the time 2 put them all down lol.

its all opinions guys nowt new and nothing 2 fall out over im sure.

now thats one thing i agree with, the minimum wage is not enough to live on, you have to get various benefits to top up that meagre wage, and this acts as one huge subsidy to businesses.

if they cant afford to pay their workers properly they shouldnt be in business. but comparing cleaning to showbusiness is a bit silly, these people are paid for their talent and the huge amount of work they put in to get where they are.
