Im quite happy with the fixture list for us this season... stoke away is a tough game. I went there this season and the britannia is no easy place. however we weill be fit and ready for the first game and their long ball tactics normally work well when the other team is tired ie. late on in the season so having them first up i think is OK. Not happy about swansea away on tuesday 31st jan. Most likely to be a wet evening kick off at swansea which is about 4 hours away... not too happy about the date as i really wanted to go but unfortunately can't. Anyway.. thoughts on the fixture list?
Main thing for me was having a winnable home game last game in case we are still in the race by then - so quite pleased. The title wasn't on the line in the end but going to Everton last this season was not an attractive proposition. Glad to be getting Old Toilet out the way fairly early to.
our second last game is liverpool away... torres to score the winner to help us win the league? surely worth a bet!
I didn't spot that, same as the double season then!! I have a good feeling about Torres this year, he is going to be itching to prove the doubters wrong.
I hope you're right about Torres....he needs to be hitting the ground running this term A goal a game for the first three is not beyond him
I still think the biggest problem for Torres was service (closely followed by confidence), with players like Modric, Pastore, Sanchez etc being mooted to come in, it looks like we're at least trying to address the issue. Ironically, I think becuase of his poor goal return so far, the expectation has lowered which may help him. Like with Sheva though, we will always get behind a trier. C'mon Torres!!
Great fixture list We just gotta play every game on its merits, there are no easy games anymore as the so-called big 4 found out last year BRING IT ON
Nando will be different this year with a decent pre-season behind him, he joined us lacking fitness and confidence. I must admit when I went to OT to watch the CL second leg, Malouda and Anelka largely ignored him which I though was ****ing disgraceful. There are issues in our squad that need a iron hand to sort, hopefully a dutch one. Sheva - when he scored that goal against Liverpool in the Community Shield I thought we were going to romp it that year...how wrong was I...the highlight of his stay was THAT goal against the spuds...beauty.
Looking at the fixtures we could f*** up so many teams seasons it would almost be funny. Nothing would be sweeter than ending Arsenal's title hopes/condemning them to Europa League, as well as relegating QPR and condemning Liverpool to midtable mediocrity
Morning all, Remind me of the score at the Brit last season please!! Thanks for reminding me, oh and by the way, Torres certainly will hit the ground, but not running - by the way I do hope he cheers up - £150K plus per week and a face like a slapped backside.
Yes a point was a good result for you after so long wasn't it but it was a very good game though with plenty of chances at both ends
You finally got a point after we hit the woodwork on multiple occasions and found out how to not concede a stoppage time winner to us.
i went to the brit last season and to be fair, it was a great game with both teams hitting the woodwork twice! was a great atmosphere and a fantastic match... shame i cant go again to the brit this time around...
Cheers 333 and all - yes it WAS a great game, let's hope for a repeat performance with NO extra time goals for you guys. All the best for the season except for the obvious!!
