I'm really shocked at this..I wonder if he has been acting himself again?

Or Fletch has recovered quicker than expected ( Achilles are always tricky) and Nacho has played himself in. No good having the lad twiddling his thumbs now he's been getting 1st team action in Fizzy Pop!

This is a good move. If he's not going to get the game time at Sunderland yet, then send him on loan where he will be playing regularly and hopefully getting better with experience. Playing games can only be more of a benefit then sitting about twiddling his thumbs.

I reckon we could still have a canny player with him yet, it's looking more and more unlikely though. We do know he scores goals in the Championship, so that should help us sell him, if that's what we are looking to do with him.

The lad is simply not good enough for the prem, Bruce, Mon, Pdc, and now Poyet have all had a good look at him and he has not won any of them over. We have a lad from South America who has very little match fitness and Gus see's him as a better option than Wickham, that tells you exactly how much Poyet rates him.

And Altidore is? Not singling him out 83 but if Wickham had as much game time this season for us as Altidore has I reckon he'd have more than one goal - I think there's much more to this than how good he is - more likely to do with attitude than ability

I reckon so - plus he didn't do himself any favours when not passing to an unmarked Borini in the Southampton game -instead he went for glory and shot wide

This is the question for me...Altidore is my humble opinion is useless (not in Poyet's or Mr USA Short perhaps) so I am confused that Wickham has not been given more starts, tbh I do not know if he is any good, I have not seen him enough. I have seen Altidore and formed my opinion of him....Connor must really be gash in training

Attitude and ability is all parts of the same package, Altidore is a different argument. It is his ability to fail to impress with 4 consecutive managers. The only reason supporters keep banging on about him is because we paid stupid money for him. If we paid 1.5 million for him we would all be , ah so what he didn't make it , was worth a punt though.

Sorry fella but I trust Gus' judgement. If he thinks Jozy is better than Connor, it's because he probably is.

Or perhaps none of them thought/thinks it's a good idea to put the responsibility on the shoulders of a 18/19/20 year old.
It's fine blooding young uns in a team that's doing well, creating chances but let's face it we've been rubbish and struggling since his arrival - not an ideal incubator for young lads.
That's not to say he hasn't shown some poor attitude but he looked up for it against Soton so maybe he's learning - some people do as they get older!

Not sure the lad feels any connection with this club and can't blame him, we've no doubt stunted his progress which has seen him drop out of under 21 squads recently.

His body language never seems right to me so attitude may be a problem which is a shame because I'm o the opinion that the ability is there.

    Nailed it.

The lad has done absolutely nothing to suggest he's ever going to be Prem standard, woeful touch, woeful decision making, slow... I could go on.

It's very much a price tag thing, Whickham will never be the answer, hopefully he bangs them in for Leeds and we can recoup 4-5 million or so.

Why he wasn't sent back to Sheff Wed, where he was settled, scoring, and confident, is baffling.

I trust Gus as well Bry! I do think Wickham would be at least as good as Altidore has been given as much chance. But I reckon the lad is a prick as a person and guess he's not doing it in training. I do not rate Altidore in the slightest though. Have seen enough of him to make a valued opinion but I've seen little bits of Wickham and had sporadic impressive moments paired with flatters to deceive moments. Gus is the man and doing this 4 day's before a cup final says a lot. Unless, as has Bern said, Scocco and Fletcher are looking better than expected. Maybe we're all reading far too much into this. Kevin Phillips was nobody at 21 year old after all (and think a lot forget Connor is only 21)

While I agree with a lot of what is said, I think this is a good decision. He needs game time for the rest of the season and when we know our fate and where we will be next season, he will know his.

You can have all the natural ability in the world but never get anywhere with the wrong attitude - Kieron Brady is a perfect example - he was a fantastic footballer - one of the most skilfull I've ever seen, but he made nothing of himself as he liked the drink too much and had the wrong attitude. "Failed to impress" is a big assumption - as was said - he's only a very young lad and we're not exactly a great side ATM. I'm simply saying that I don't think Altidore is good enough this season. He may be one that needs this season to settle but we can't really afford that in our position. Wickham, IMO, would have more goals than altidore and would also be putting himself about a lot better with as many games as Altidore has had. Just my opinion like
