All their tickets, 3,750 , have been taken up by seasonpass holders and none are available for general sale.
Yet some people make remarks about their fans, who have to travel further than ourselves for all but 1 game and take great numbers everywhere.
Sunderland is a proper football city. Something which I have sadly come to the conclusion Hull isn't. I used to dream about the days we would be in the top flight and with the chance of getting to a cup final back in the 1970s and imagined the sort of support the likes of Sunderland used to bring here.
Those days have arrived and unfortunately the reality is different.
And the excuse the other place in question is a prosperous, high wage area, won't wash in this instance.

It is a crying shame that we seem to have so much trouble keeping the numbers up.

No doubting it's a great turn-out by the Mackems.

    Quick question Castro:

Why do you seem to hate every single Hull City fan?

Apart from that, good to see they've sold out the tickets.

I don't see hate in that post, just disappointment that now that we're finally at the top table, we're not pulling the numbers we should be. I share that disappointment.

    It was a general question.

I agree with most of that post.

I don't know how many other people are taking my stance but I don't doubt for one minute there must be several thousand around the city who can't bring themselves to hand money over to Allam.

Fair play to the Mackems, a week after Wembley, north stand is going to be solid Geordie/Mackem territory for the next week but I still hate the daft twats.

Sunderland have always been a very well supported team , we have definitely not seen a big increase in fans with all our recent success on the pitch , as to reasons why well we could argue about that all day

The really weird thing, is that we're only pulling a few thousand more to games, than we managed when we were in League Two.

And yet I bet we get 40k+ if we get to Wembley just like last time...

Why do you seem to hate every single Hull person?

We actually took less than 40,000.

Fair play to the Mackems. They (like ourselves) have a very loyal away support.
It's sections of their home support who seem to prefer watching in a pub (Niall Quinn's words) rather than attending the games.
We take the piss out of them about their swathes of pink seats at home.. but their travelling lads are hardcore.
The local boozers in Hull will be rubbing their hands together at the thought of us and the Mackems boosting their coffers over the next few weeks.

I blame Mickey Horswill for that, mind Porterfield's goal in 73 against TWS reminds us all of the magic of the cup so come on City lets sell out and get back to Wembley for some more City glory.

Newcastles average attendance the season before Keegan, promotion and success... 16.1k. We have been in and out of the Premier League probably the most, including two very embarrassing record low point seasons, yet we still turn out in numbers.

You wouldn't average 40k if you had been through anywhere near what we have <ok>

I don't hate every Hull person. I hate a few (none of them on here), but not everyone.

Don't answer a question with another question please, just give an answer. It's a simple question, you just come across imo as someone who seems to dislike nearly everyone else who supports the club. Just wondering.

You have a spectacular propensity for missing the point. A somewhat serious shortcoming for someone wishing to be a journalist.

Another one is posting spurious figures, as you did.

Why won't you answer the question?

I do love your journo criticism. It is getting a tad old though.

EDIT: I'll continue this later, got a train to catch.

The difference between us and Sunderland is the fact it is embedded in their community - it isn't in ours. It will take a few generations of top flight football to get into gear here.

Everyone says about the lost generations of supporters City missed out on being in the lower leagues for so long. I know a few people who have lived in Sunderland, and they all say that the Mackems live for their weekends, football is their life, it is all they talk about.
