Grateful? Why grateful? He'd have got his chance with one club or another with his scoring record in La Liga - maybe not a top 6 club but for that money he'd have found a club with no problem. He'd never heard of us but came here because he wanted to play for Laudrup. Period. Now, I agree that Garry Monk has his attributes but I don't think there's going to be a crowd of quality players beating a path to our door any time soon, foreign or otherwise, just to play for him.
Just like the majority of football fans outside of La Liga wouldn't have heard of him. Because we bought him, his reputation gas gone through the roof. The top clubs weren't exactly lining up to buy him after his achievements last summer, so after the injury hit season he has had, he isn't in a position to moan, and as Monk has said he needs to concentrate on getting fit and playing well.
Do you really think Laudrup will go to QPR valley ? There are lots of rumours but Monaco would be more of a fit Imo.
Don't buy into this assumption they players come to club because of the manager, it's probably affects a players decision to join at no more than 5%. The main reason they come is wages, most of ML's targets failed to join us and chose other clubs in preference to Swansea and ML. Monk will be able to attract most of his targets if the money's right. Simple as.
You know, Valley has a point there. Despite his exploits in La Liga he was still unknown but with Swansea he became to seen a phenomenon.

Not really, I studied Statistics when doing my HND business studies years ago, and one thing I know about statistics is, you can make them suit your argument, if I got into rebutting your statistical arguments, we would be here until doomsday going around in ever decreasing circles, that's why I really cannot be bothered with getting too deep into the stats, the only stats I'm concerned with is Winning and team performances, and that to me has improved immensely under Monk, even a chimpanzee can see that, your just crackers!................. swanselona here's a statistic for you, what were the possession stats % for those 39 games Laudrup lost??................
