I've been to an cup game in the 90's, I don't take much notice as a city fan, you have to pay whatever said price is
It's not something that is remotely important but I've learnt something new

 

Family relations took a while to recover a few years back. There was a wedding on the wife's side of the family. I said I wasn't going as City were playing. She kept on and on and asked if my presence was essential. If I had Flu would it still go ahead? When she said I yes I said fine, tell them I have got flu.
This lead to a frosty atmosphere for a while. When I tell you the game in question was Molby's first game you may think, as I did, was this worth the hassle? Of course I would do the same again.

 

It isn't quite as straightforward as you might think

According to FA rules:
Net gate receipts shall be divided as follows:
(i) In matches prior to the Third Round of the Competition Proper (other than replayed
matches in the Competition Proper), the net gate receipts of each match shall be
divided equally between the competing Clubs.
(ii) In replayed matches in the Competition Proper prior to the Third Round, 5% of the net
gate receipts shall be remitted to The Association and the balance shall be divided
equally between the competing Clubs.
(iii) In matches played in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition
Proper, the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided as follows:
45% to each Club competing in the match.
10% to the Pool.
(iv) In replayed matches in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition
Proper the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided as follows:
5% to The Association.
42.5% to each Club.
10% to the Pool.
(c) “The Pool” shall be a fund held by The Association which shall be divided at the completion
of the Competition between the FA Premier League and the Football League for onward
distribution to the Clubs in the FA Premier League and the Football League which
participated in the Competition. The 5% payment to The Association for replayed matches
in the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper shall
be divided at the completion of the Competition amongst all the Clubs outside the FA
Premier League and The Football League playing in the First Round of the Competition
Proper.

(d) In matches played in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper
involving Clubs outside the FA Premier League or The Football League, the net gate
receipts of each match shall be divided as follows:
50% to Clubs outside The FA Premier League or The Football League.
40% to FA Premier League or Football League Clubs.
10% to the Pool (save where both Clubs are outside the FA Premier League or the Football
League).
(e) In replayed matches in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper
involving Clubs outside the FA Premier League or The Football League, the net gate
receipts of each match shall be divided as follows:
47.5% to Clubs outside The FA Premier League or The Football League.
37.5% to FA Premier League or Football League Clubs.
10% to the Pool (save where both Clubs are outside The FA Premier League or The
Football League).
5% to The Association.

 

When I went to Arsenal in the quarters last time it was about £40.00, plus return train fare and a days unpaid leave next day.

Of course its the two clubs who have to agree and i don't suppose Sunderland will want us to sell out they don't want 20,000 screaming Hull fans backing there team desperate to get to Wembley they would rather have us all sat in front of the tv with a cup of tea and some chocalate biscuits cheering the lads on at home so there own fans can take over the stadium. I think one game if you can afford it is the F A CUP QUATER FINAL 90 MINS FROM WEMBLEY AT HOME if you really want to back the lads then get yourself s there it might never happen again and i can't believe i am having to write this

 

How would I as a supporter benefit from that information?

£20 is a lot of money to some people and absolutely nothing to others . Nothing to do with how big a fan they are or how long they have supported , just how much money they happen to have

 

You won't benefit other than increasing your knowledge of these things which would mean you didn't ask why something was happening when there wre no alternatives.

Just thought you might be interested in seeing what a convoluted set of regulations govern these things and it isn't simply a case of clubs deciding what to charge. There is actually an FA minimum forveach league and cup competition. We don't notice it but non league clubs do when they have to put their prices up for cup games in the qualifying rounds.

 

I was also at that with my dad and grandfather (may they rip) happy days indeed, and to cap it all we have a brick in the wall for dad and his ashes where scattered around the perimiter of the KC, pity the're not around to see our current glories

Being well into middle age I can remember seeing City play Stoke in the last eight at Boothferry Park. There were 42,000 there and admission prices didn't have to be reduced. It wouldn't have even occurred to anyone to do that. That people are deploring that bargain basement prices aren't being offered for another FA Cup quarter final shows you just how downgraded the competition has become.

 

I wonder how many of the people that 'couldn't afford' yesterday will be happy to pay £40 and travel expenses to go to London though? I would never criticise someone that genuinely can't afford it but of the 14,000 we were short of full yesterday I suspect a large proportion of them just couldn't be bothered.

 

Very true Castro i live in hope i know it can happen because for some reason against Cardiff last season (well we know why) plus Leeds games we had a fantastic atmosphere the type we need for this game however like you say many might as well sit at home because there they get behind the lads as much as they do in the stadium. What fans have got to realise is getting an home tie in a quarter final doesn't happen very often so this is a great chance to make the most of home advantage and really get behind the team ( i know premier league survival is still priority but its still great to have a chance of Wembley)

 

£15 from third round onwards. £10 for first and second round. £6 for fourth qualifying round.

 

I feel sorry for the genunie fans who realy can't afford it, however, like many aspects of life to many people want something for nothing. Simple, if you support your team, within reason money should not prevent you going.

 

My knowledge is just fine ta. If I'd just stated "its **** all to do with the club, stop looking for any excuse to ****ing whine" I would have been shot down. By getting OLM to state the facts, it eventually starts to sink in with some.

People keep saying 'so many fans can't afford it' or 'I can't afford an extra £20' I mean come on I know times are hard and people are living on a very tight budget but only 10,000 people turned up last night that's 14,000 down on usual games so that 14k can clearly afford matches.

But without a doubt we'll sell a lot more than that for the semi and probably sell out the final. Weird how so many of these hard done by fans who can't afford £20 will suddenly be managing to pay £30/40 a ticket plus travel which is anywhere from £30-80 pound depending how you get there
