My lawns are now 100% mixed flower, shrub & bulb beds and are now all springing back to life!

If it weren't for Mrs S I would not have lawns as the cutting of same is such a pointless activity, like washing cars, shaving... Moss I thought was a benefit - its soft, nice & green and does not grow much.

Despite have our lawns relaid with drainage recently, they are still sodden, but then it has not really stopped raining since the beginning of November, this w/e was horrible.

You might have a point there, w-y...not that hanging baskets are numerous around here. Mind you, one of our local pubs has them all along the front. Perhaps they'd consider a barter arrangement...moss for beer <laugh>

Góðan daginn allir. Cappuccino, coffee, tea donuts and fruit are on the bar.

We have people protesting abot the end of talks to join EU. Do they not understand if Ísland joins the nation will die, we will not be able to stop anyone fishing in our water.

Morning all, sunshine and showers in rural France today.

I read that the trial of Oscar Pistorius will have full audio and some live TV coverage next week when it starts. Already one broadcaster has set up a complete channel just to cover the event. Without wanting to comment on the case in any way, I do wonder if a person is disadvantaged by knowing that cameras are focused on him. There are a number of high profile trials going on in the UK at present, none of course televised. Anyone have views on letting people see such things? After all we do have the freedom of information act in place.

Anyone can go to the court and witness the goings on from the public gallery, subject to enough room to accommodate everyone of course!

    Morning all

Case of wine just delivered with some new ones to try...always a pleasure to look forward to. Have definitely reached the time of life where I don't buy wines which aren't ready to drink now!

Anyone here a member of the Wine Society, we buy most of our wines from them. Good value and very seldom a bottle we don't like.

Blimey Theo - that's a bit pessimistic isn't it? Do you shop carefully at Tesco looking at the shelf life :)

It does sound more so than I meant Harry. I just don't buy anything that says "best after being laid down for 5 years". Besides, you wouldn't want to leave a cellar full to your nearest and dearest would you?

I think I've been like that for all my adult life...

To be honest, I don't buy or drink wine anymore, having simply lost the taste for it. Although, when funds permit, I do intend going back to making my own - and revisiting some of my old favourites, such as celery, parsnip, orange, pineapple, strawberry.... Shame they don't sell babaco over here - babaco and grapefruit was a blend to die for.
