Lots of you going down and hoping to be in the square on Saturday. Don't be so sure. Just been reading on smb that there is a large Russian festival on the Sunday, so some if it may be closed. http://www.maslenitsa.co.uk/
No one seems to have any idea of what's going on. It maybe nowt of nowt, it maybe partially closed, surely someone must know for sure.
Keeping a keen eye on this http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/trafalgar-square-closed-off-1st-march.883916/page-5
I can't see them setting it all up saturday night. it will all get nicked. i would have thought they'll set it up early sunday morning, so we should still have time to get down there for a few on sat eve.
I run the production for loads of these sorts of events, its likely they will start setting up the day before and work all through the night. Its usually a 12 hour get in for events like this with a 6am hand over to the day crew. This means they will start at 6pm Sat evening. That's just a guess from experience. They will have loads of security on the night shift to make sure all the equipment is safe.

A RUSSIAN spring festival has stumped Sunderland fans’ plans to paint Trafalgar Square red and white the night before the Capital One Cup Final. Thousands of SAFC supporters had planned to gather in the London square the night before Sunday’s cup final clash against Manchester City at Wembley. But the plaza is set to be sealed off on Saturday night for the Maslenitsa Russian Festival. The festival takes place on Sunday, but the square is understood to be out of bounds the night before to allow organisers to set up shop. Maslenitsa combines a Russian Orthodox religious celebration with an older pagan festival welcoming the arrival of spring. Sunderland fans are now putting together new plans for pre-match celebrations on Saturday night. http://m.sunderlandecho.com/news/lo...derland-fans-trafalgar-square-plans-1-6461461
