And those same Barca fans I'd have said exactly the same to....why watch the game if you can't enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is? It isn't an exact science (out on the pitch), never has been never will be. You make the best of what you've got and not one true fan could say we haven't done that this year so far. Even the greatest teams have room for improvement and we certainly ain't anywhere near that level so of course we ain't perfect....but **** me we're good to watch right now
I used to moan, shout and grumble about our players during games all the time. I rarely do it any more. Its not because I'm not bothered, trust me when I say I am. Nor is it me accepting that level. However, it is me accepting that that is the quality we have at that time and judging accordingly. Sure, certain players still piss me off at times (looking at Johnson mainly here) but I also recognise others that are doing well with their limited abilities (Flano and Cissokho for example). Yes we could have much better players in those positions (although I wouldn't swap Flano for anyone at the moment) but we don't, we have them. A lot went way over the top with the criticism of Toure IMO. He only made a couple of mistakes but they were very costly errors. It was a bit like when a keeper makes a mistake IMO. People criticise the midfield players for not protecting the back four, tracking runners or closing down quick enough. Bar the last bit, I believe they are down to Brod's tactics rather than the individuals so I don't get annoyed with them. The main reason I get annoyed with players nowadays is when they clearly aren't putting the effort in; aka Johnson! Some may remember me moaning about Gerrard not too long ago too but he's much better now. Only other reason is blatant cheating, especially risky ones such as Skrtel rugby tackling in the box!
Ok deal, and let's not kid ourselves that we can't play better than we did on Saturday either We certainly do have different ways of thinking and feeling Livtor and it's just a personal thing but I'm damn glad I can enjoy games like Saturdays otherwise I'd find the whole footballing experience a tad too sterile and a lot less soulful.
I'm off to bed with a mobile, a certain clip possibly associated with a certain film mentioned tonight and a large tub of strawberry jelly..... It will only be 1-0 though.......too old for 4-3's
Totally enjoyed Sunday's experience ALONG with the frustrations it threw at me. Let me break it down... The enjoyment told me "More of that attack!", the frustrations yelled "Less of that defending!", and in their midst, my rational brain whispered just what you typed there yourself (in bold) and that "we should aim to do better in order to have legit ambitions for the title". So, where's the anathema in all this?
Shamelessly stolen: Imagine how many goals Liverpool's attack would score against Liverpool's defence!
