What would you like to see as the next change in football?

    1. Rugby sin-binning: The offending player is sent-off for ten minutes.

    2. Ice Hockey sin-binning: Much like Rugby, only difference being the player may return if the team with the one man advantage score.

    3. Rugby time-keeping. Clock stops when play stops, so no need for subjective injury time additions, and everybody knows when the game ends. It's when the clock hits 90 mins and the ball goes out of play, whereas at the moment a ref can stop a game at any point after the injury time elapses, even if a team is on the attack.

    4. Champions league for champions only.

    5. Worldwide wage cap.

    6. World Pools for World Cups. Only the best make the finals, rather than a selection from the continents.

    7. The potential to use 5/7 subs instead of just three.

    8. Video refereeing and a Cricket/Tennis style where each team has a certain number of reviews.

    9. Other...

    10. None, Football is how I want it.

Proper tackles again! Retrospective action against divers anywhere on the pitch! Refs having a mic and speaking to the player giving the exact reason why something has happened.

I'm with Yoshiyella except I would introduce a sniper in the stadium who does have an elephant gun so that those who go down as if shot by an elephant gun can can do an encore but for real.

I've been an advocate of two changes for a long time now.

Firstly, video reviews whereby every goal is reviewed as a matter of course. It's now done in American Football I believe and seems to work and also there is no problem with stopping the game as there is a natural break. Hopefully, dodgy offsides, handballs, etc would be eliminated. Beyond that I think there is scope to bring in say 2 reviews per team although it may slow the game down too much and it would need to be trialled. Maybe it would work for penalty decisions that are given/not given and goals given offside. Maybe for red cards too.

Secondly, the yellow card system should basically be scrapped and sin bins introduced. For example: A Hull player maims an Arsenal player and gets a yellow card pushing him over the 5 yellows threshold and getting him a ban against their next opponents who are Chelsea. So despite being title rivals Arsenal have their own player taken out of a game and simultaneously lose out from the Hull player being banned when they play Chelsea the following week. It isn't right. Also, is a red card offence in the first minute of a game equally worthy of a player being sent from the pitch in 90th minute? How often do two yellow cards warrant the player being off the pitch for half the game or more? If there was a sin bin, I think it would cut down fouls a lot more as small fouls could be punished with 5 mins in the bin and I'm sure managers would enforce discipline as they wouldn't want to be regularly with only 10 men. I think the length of time a player is given in the sin bin would need to be variable and determined by the ref.

Think sin binning rugby style would be a good idea. I'd quite like miked up refs rugby style as well, that works well there and immediately shows up any tosser who gives abuse and backchat.

From left field, I'd like the Europe League competition to go back to a knock out competition- too many pointless games.

You want to bring back the importance and competitiveness of cup games? 4 Champions League places for the semi-finalists of the Europa and winners of the FA Cup get a CL place, rather than 4th place in the league.

Certainly the Europa League needs to be knock-out unless the prize money changes significantly.

I picked other. I like the idea of tackling being reintroduced <ok>

I'm against video refs. People just need to be more accepting of average to poor to terrible decisions and stop trying to dehumanise the game. Sin bins are completely unneccessary. Yellow/Red is fine, maybe just a bit of fine tuning of the rules and those implementing them. No more subs, games get disjointed enough by tactical geniuses like Allardyce and Pulis! World pools is not possible, too much impact on domestic games. Wage caps? I'd like to see spending brought down to a more sensible level but its f**ked. I'm for Champions only Champions league in some ways but it can end up contributing towards an elite set of clubs. Maybe we need some kind of draft system to help level the playing field? I like the injury time drama of someone scoring in the 96th minute. Then everyone arguing about where the time came from. As with arguing about good/bad decisions post game. I like arguing (good job really, the missus is a pro)

I like the idea in Ice Hockey of letting folk fight for a bit. I suppose all the padding helps but you still see the odd bloody nose. There is a WWF style form of entertainment in someone pulling a top over someones head, then blitzing them with 19 quickfire uppercuts for minimal damage. If we can get that in somehow, I'm up for that.

Other - retrospective banning of those caught diving - panel to sit each week (made up of a ref, an ex-player and someone from the FA) - will review cases of those see by the ref and where the ref was conned

And refs stood down for incompetent handling of games.

That'll teach the ones on the make.

Added to that could we have Howard Webb permanently retired from the referee roster?

Perhaps then we'll stop hearing he's "the country's top referee" despite always being criticised for getting match-changing decisions wrong.

We know he hates NUFC but in all honesty, has this bloke ever put in a shift free of controversy?
