Having seen him a couple of times now, I wondered what everyone thinks of him. My own view is that the raw material is there for a decent striker. He looks a bit lightweight, and gets shrugged off the ball too easily. His movement and touch are good, the jury is still out on his finishing. Personally I think he will be better playing off a proper target man, as opposed to the headless chicken that is Simon Church. Of course, we did have that proper target man up to two weeks ago, but sold him to Bournemouth against his wishes.
I like him - a striker that can burst in to life is always a good thing. Spot on regarding his strength, but if he can learn to play off the shoulders, and provided he gets service I could see him easily getting 10+ goals in a full campaign. His movement and pace make him capable of that. If he keeps his starting spot I can see him getting 5-7 goals in the remaining 17 fixtures.
I also like the look of him, always on the move and makes very intelligent runs into key areas (unless Sodall is bloking his runs!) As has been mentioned, his strength and hold up play is questionable, but we should not be expecting a bloke of his size and stature to be the battering ram that Kermorgant was. Having watched him in the warm up on Saturday, he looks pretty good in front of goal as well. I would also like to think that how often he went to ground in the Birmingham game, he will win us the odd penalty as well!
i think he's a good player. he makes the right runs, and now with diego in the team hopefully he'll be picked out a bit more. we do have a knack of turning a good striker in to a poor one.
Don't like him, missed a sitter Saturday when he hit the post Church would have scored, even Pritchard might have scored was so easy. Seemed far to lightweight and doesnt seem too quick either, wasn't impressed but hopefully he can prove me wrong
Bit harsh Ted, he was unlucky with the shot that hit the post, off balance, Remy and Dzeko missed easier chances this weekend. Think he'll work well with Tudgay. Church is a poor man's James Milner, lots of running without offering much, a bit like a water polo player swimming lengths without touching the ball.
Reza looks the type of player who will thrive on a goal for his confidence. I like the way he makes runs and works the opposition's back 4. He was playing with a clown on Saturday - he now needs Tudgay alongside him (good cameo when he came on) and give them the chance to develop an understanding. If we play a middle 4 of Jackson, Cousins, Poyet & Astrid we WILL create chances!
actually agree with you for a change. 100% agree. merit for not finishing one of the sentences with an insult aswell - keep it up
Can't make my mind up. I enjoyed Tudgay's intelligent play and physical presence, it's a case of who can form the best partnership with him, but we haven't seen Pete yet.
@S.I.G Being lectured on football by you is a bit like being told to sit up straight by the Hunch Back of Notre Dame
Yep, got to give Polish Pete a go, Yes the Dutch Div 2 isn't Championship quality, but he's in form and give him a chance, If a striker is in form they will always find a way to score, we let a very similar striker go and now Smith is scoring for fun
I think he needs his first goal for us and he'll be able to relax a bit... I reckon from what we saw of the passing from Tudgay and Ajdarevic in the closing stages against QPR I reckon they could seriously set him up with a goal or two as they've the vision to pick the pass that he needs On another note he is too lightweight and does dive (for which I'm not his biggest fan) but he does track back (well tried to only to be thrown off the ball against QPR) and doesnt seem to have a big charlie attitude based on the fact he's going to the World Cup In terms of Polish Pete being mentioned... Unless both score regularly when given separate opportunities I cant see them starting together this season... I reckon at the moment its gonna be Reza / Pete alongside Church / Sordell / Tudgay
Adjarevic, Tudgay and Harriott all looked good when they came on, but that was only for 30 minutes or less. My guess is none of them, or Ghoochannejhad either, can do the business for 90 minutes. Maybe by next season but we could be down by then, in which case the foreigners won't want to sign and there would be little point in signing Tudgay. Selling Kermit continues to look an insane decison on both footballing and financial grounds. With him in the team and the new strikers I would be fairly confident of avoiding the drop.
