This is a good thread, it's also impossible to answer. Iv'e already made my choices, so how did i leave Ashbee out ? Elliott ?

Going back as far as i remember, some have mentioned "Kieth never misses Edwards" and i'd agree. He wasn't really a footballer, but as he never missed, what more could you want ?

Iv'e got to add Billy Askew from the same era, he stood out as such a tidy creative midfield player. And oh god yeah, what about Tom Cairney ?

Honestly, for anyone around my age, how can you look past Elliott for our best all-time?

Our generations' first proper hero, and imo will always be my favorite player, no matter what the future holds.

    And the celebration...

Current: Sone Aluko for his talent & Alex Bruce for his character

All-time: I'm going to give it to Stan McEwan (I've played golf with him & he's a real gent)

honourary mentions to Garry Parker (best player in the team I first followed), Alex Dyer, Billy Whitehust (first City player I saw score at BP)

    My thoughts exactly.

Other past players- loved Big Ben Burgess when he was here, Deano, Turner, Barmby (that goal at Hillsborough), Ash, Bo, Daws, Whittle, Delaney (that goal v Rochdale). Liked Vito Mannone as well.

Currently: Rosey- nice bloke when I met him at one of those supporters club functions.

The past - way to many to mention, even in some of our really poor periods, we usually had one or two who stood out.

Current - still too many to mention but this has got to be the best squad/team that I've seen in my 45 years of supporting City!

I must say, following on from my comment about my generation, that my generation is the ****ing luckiest in our long history. I feel privileged to have lived through this clubs' past 15 years.

I first started going the season after 'The Great Escape', so I am one lucky bastard to have seen not much other than success, whereas people who lived for twice, thrice my age saw mediocrity and/or failure.

Also, mentioning the Great Escape, I must say that Warren Joyce, not Assem Allam, is Hull City's great saviour. Without him, there'd be no KC Stadium. No successive promotions. No Premier League. No Taylor, Brown, Pearson, Bruce. We'd have been nothing near what we are now.

Can spot the age of the fan by the player they post.

Started in the very late 70's/ early 80's (I genuinely don't know) and the pick is from the following

    Norman
    Edwards
    Whitehurst
    Payton
    Jobson
    Jenkinson
    Jay Jay

None of the modern players make my favourite player - they maybe better footballers but that's a difference to a favourite.

I think Jenks gets it for me. He had one move. It worked. It worked every time. And he came 8th in the Rumbelows sprint challenge

    Payton a close second
Jay Jay third - wish we had him in his prime

Surely a good thing. Or more likely, as said, a lucky thing.

Probs talking Tony Norman, Billy Askew, Alan Fettis and I have to throw in Richard Peacock. He was a rare shinning light during a dire period.

The main man has to be Garreth Roberts though. Mr Hull City and a true legend. Great pitch invasion at his testimonial too.

Interesting that only 1 person besides myself has put Huddlestone - just a couple of months ago after the fulham game everybody was rating him amongst our best ever players already.

That performance was the best i've ever seen from a City player, but just one performance doesn't win my heart.

Though Elliott vs DQPR is up there... although Elliott was class all the time...

That Fulham game was the only home game I missed last year <grr> - I said before it started that we'd win 4-0 or something, and look what happened :emoticon-0114-dull:

I remember his debut v Fulham, scored too.

But, away at Lincoln some time later (he was on the bench for them), sure he flicked some abusing fingers at the City fans (or a similar weighted sign based expression of abuse).

I'm disappointed in the lad. He was always generally liked by the fans.

    Why Dicky, why...
