It matters because more people will remember Wenger for his failures as they are of such embarrassment and more recent then his success. He will be asked why he wasn't good enough to win in Europe when managers like Mourinho and Bentinez managed CL trophies with inferior teams.

I remember that game against Barca, Wenger kicking the water bottle? Poor chap,.

Eh? The impact of buying Ozil was immense and was a catalyst to our great start and great run pre February, and even in this hard month, we managed to progress in the cup, and are still a point of the top. Ozil has had a lean two months, (not helped by the absence of Ramsey and Walcott) but this is his first season in a new league and I think has struggled with the pace of the game and that has taken it's toll. None of your expensive buys have had anywhere near the impact Ozil has had at Arsenal, that's for sure. <ok>

It's not the point. Why are Arsenal not competing for trophies and settling for profits before prizes? Is there a fear factor?

Last time, I checked we were in the last eight of the FA Cup (Wenger playing stronger teams now) and a point behind the league leaders, is this not 'competing' for trophies?

winning a trophy is no longer the point of football
fans and clubs treat the FA and League cups as Mickey Mouse competitions and the same has happened withe Europa League
Top 4 Is considered the most important achievement due to the money involved from being in the C. L.
The FA, the clubs ( including our own)and the players all only give a **** about CL football and winning the premier Leagueand in that order simply because of the money involved.
my best day as a spurs fan was watching us win our first1st trophy as a supporter in 198l . My 2nd best was our cup win v Chelsea in 2008 as this was our 1st trophy that I watched us win with my daughters
But l think I am in a minority that would prefer us to Win the Europa league than to get 4th spot

Never. We got debts to pay that come first and we try to compete but it not easy Chelsea spent a hell of a lot of money to get where they are Man U spends a hell of a lot of money to stay where they are. City like Chelsea have to spend to catch up. You should know you piss 100mil up the wall and are worst off!

You might argue that you've benefited from the changes at Utd, City and Chelsea. Utd have dropped off the pace dramatically and City and Chelsea have had new managers and players to bed in. Your continuity of both manager and players helped - as did the signing of Ozil, for a period at least. Yet despite all this, there has been no ambition to strengthen the team in areas where it is clearly needed (the transfer window in January was a farce). The defence (and team generally) has been exposed badly against those teams with pace and movement up front. Since beating Liverpool on Nov 2nd, your record against the current top seven is drawn 3, lost 3, which doesn't bode well for your remaining games away at Chelsea, Everton and Spurs and City at home, not to mention Norwich, Hull and Stoke away - all of whom are pretty miserly on their home grounds. I won't be backing you for the title for the same reasons I haven't backed you in the last half dozen years or so. I might be wrong, but I'm confident I won't be.

Sorry, don't see it. He started off with a bang, and now looks like he can't be arsed half the time. For £40+mill I would expect more!...have you ever seen the bloke smile, by the way?.

Ozil has no affinity with the club or fans, he misses Real Madrid and Ronaldo. You can see he realises he made a massive mistake joining Arsenal.

Your profile says you're 36. If you're really 36 then I would be concerned.

I suppose, looking at this realistically, whatever you have achieved as a club you always want more. We, at the moment, want to be regular CL qualifiers. I'm sure, if like the Goons, we did that, we would also be just as frustrated at getting regularly knocked out in the first round after the group stage...you would naturally be wanting to go further.
