Can't believe nobody else has said him, ash or even boaz. I know people like to look further into the past, but those promotion filled years were amazing
Keith Edwards. Of current team Curtis Davies, I can't believe I was non too happy when we signed him.
Nominated Keithy because he often played in **** teams for us yet was always, always a threat. One chance and he scores. Would like to have nominated many other underated/overlooked larkers who will never be nationally known but were always ultra solid/reliable when others around them went AWOL. Pete Skipper, Gordon Nisbet, Jimmy McGill, Garreth Roberts for example.
Currently: Davies, Bruce, McShane, Faye, Rosenior, Elmo, Huddlestone, Quinn, Aluko, Long, Jelavic...the vast majority of our current squad really. Past: Dawson, Ashbee, Myhill, Barmby, Windass, Geo and Boateng
Present: Elmo not because he is the best larker but because through the goal celebrations/promotion winning dances, etc. you can see how key he is the to the outstanding team spirit that is the foundation of our successful team. Past: Deano - his contributions in the lean years partnership with Linton Brown, etc. and his return and that Wembley goal. Just edged out Gareth Roberts for me.
From first games - Frankie Banks and John Hawley Less old - Ash and Elliot Now - McShane, the english Baresi but honestly the whole team just now.
Currently - James Chester - Probably the only one here who will say him. All Time - Quite a hard one this as any of those who went through the divisions with us could get it but i would go with Myhill, never got as much attention as Ash and was just as vital.
Think back to when we signed Davies and we all thought he was pretty pricey for a Centre Half from mid/lower table in the Championship and most of us doubted he was better than what we had. How wrong we were
Never questioned it. SB said he was best defender in Championship last season, and had previous PL experience at Villa & WBA.
