http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13785063.stm I think this makes things seem incredibly likely that he will be our goalkeaper next year, but do you share forlans concerns about him settling in Machester. His lack of english will certainly damage how he commands the box untill he can learn it. Deigo is however full of praise for his ability so i personally think that if we can get him ajusted to england then we may have found a great long term solution. Even if the start might be a little tough.
The language can possibly be a huge problem. Communication is rather key between the defenders and their keeper. But he is young so we can afford to bed him in slowly if we keep Kuszczak as well.
We can probably teach him 'DAVIDS!' 'RIO, GO THERE! WATCH!' 'PASS BALL' won't rafael and fable speak Spanish anyway?
It didn't cause Chelsea any problems in 04/05 when they had Cech speaking Czech, Carvalho speaking Portugese and Terry speaking cockney grunts. Nor at Liverpool in 05/06 when they had Reina speaking Spanish, Hypia speaking English and Carragher speaking Scouse.
Portugese and Spanish are actually very similar and they would probably understand each other. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fox3sGoopM In that vid, Anderson is speaking Portugese, but due to their similarity, Chicharito who speaks Spanish and English can understand the Portugese and translate it.
Two years in the top flight in fact. And it sounds a lot better than £35m for a 22 year old striker with only half a year in the top league in England...
What about Henderson you tool? Just got to love the anti Utd muppets. Someone else said it, if Utd hadn't attempted to buy players and splash the cash they would have all claimed we were debt ridden and broke; spend the money and beat their teams to signings, and its all a waste of money.
I don't know how to speak either language but two things. 1. How do we know Anderson isn't speaking Spanish and Chicharito isn't merely translating from his native language? (Sorry if I'm wrong here) 2. More importantly given this result was in April 2011 why is Anderson still not able to speak some English? He signed in 2007!!!!
wel that would be good because he is brazilian, which supports the fact that they can communicate with de gea, but i think it could be that the languages are similar.
I know they are quite similar and thats why possibly both Anderson and Chicharito are using their own languages to communicate. However how come Anderson who has been signed roughly 4 years still cannot speak any English? Many posters on here defend the lad saying he needs a good run, play him in his natural attacking CM role and he's been injured. How about learning the language!!!!!
A good proportion of Brazilians speak Spanish as well as Portugese. As was said, they're both very similar languages. Also Brazil is surrounded by and trades with lots of Spanish speaking countries so Spanish is the major second language in Brazil (IIRC). Much like lots of Mexicans learn English as a second language cos they have the USA right next door.
He can speak English - he gave a decent interview in English back in December 2008 after only one season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG55Ze_Dj20&feature=related His English there isn't that much worse than Rooney's! Not sure why Chicharito is translating for him in the other video, unless there was too much noise to understand the questions, or they didn't want to risk him not understanding what they said when live on TV? I guess they only had 1.5 mins to do the interview, and didn't want to spend half of it explaining the questions to Ando?
