My reaction to the game summed up in 5s
Don't blame Rose for Bentaleb's mistake. Bentaleb should definitely not be playing in Ukraine and then here. That was his worst game for us. Erikksen should be playing instead.
Bentaleb lost the ball but Rose was caught out of position and his tracking back on that - and several other - occasions was half-hearted.
Bentaleb shouldn't be losing the ball in that position. Rose is thinking of attack when we have the ball on the halfway line.
Sherwood made the one mistake he can't make, which was to err on the side of caution. He played a similar lineup against Newcastle, but it was a very bold approach, with an extremely high line and Kaboul among others bombing forward. This was a cautious lineup that played cautiously against a team whose last game was a shut out of the best attacking team in the league in a game Spurs desperately needed to win. If he wasn't going to repeat the approach against Newcastle, it's inexplicable he didn't give Ade a partner, who at this point could only be Eirksen, or did some other thing that provided some hope we were going to score. I incidentally never got the commonly expressed opinion that this would be an easy game, A team whose last game was a draw against Man City that we will just roll over? I don't get that, and I don't get the approach today. Kaboul being unable to go was a real blow, but the response had to be to start Eiriksen. The neither/nor approach against Dnipro, which tired some of our starters out, but not enough to get the win, also doesn't seem the most brilliant idea in retrospect, or even at the time.
Completely agree. Absolute ****ing disgrace. Everybody from Sherwood on down should be ashamed of themselves.
No point playing in the Champions League then the traveling the extra games might as well give up! Europa set you up so you can get use to the extra games best to play it so if you do get play with the big boys at lease you're use to the traveling!
In them years we have reach 1 Champion League Final (lost) 1 Europa Final (lost) won 3 Premier Leagues, won 4 FA Cups(lost1) and lost 2 League Cup Finals Got to be in it to win it. Win some lose some!
How many seasons have Arsenal been in the Champions League?...and why do THEY bother? They beat up on the little teams and get kicked out by the big boys. Then again,Spurs are treating the Europa as they once treated the Football Combination....for playing mostly reserves! Again, why bother?
Wenger has never finished outside the top four but it must be something that really bothers him, never winning the champions league, or coming close with his best teams and when they did make it to the final, you could see the desperation in his face and gutting expression as they lost.
But you don't. Arsenal have become content to settle for 3rd or 4th in the league, CL last 16 or Q-F and playing reserve teams in the domestic cups. No trophies won in nearly 9 years, no ambition to compete in the transfer market........what is going on there?
It would bother anyone but so what he has won things at least we are in it and like I said for what he spent compare to all the super clubs Arsenal has done considerably well. Arsenal was very close a man down after 28 min to an up and coming Barcelona to only lose in the last 10min. How close have Tot ten Ham come you have never come close!
Wenger, or maybe it's the hierarchy, I don't know, have always tried to do it without spending. The only really big purchase they've made has been Ozil, and I don't think that will encourage them to splash out again anytime soon. Money talks in today's game. I expect the top two clubs in the Premiership race to be Chavski & City. I think that speaks for itself...
