Possibly the worst player on the pitch today. What is up with him? I thought Rodgers made a mistake taking off Sturridge and not Suarez. I understand his energy normally is more effective and can create from nothing, but he looked hopeless. In fact he has been poor since he came out saying he was scared of getting injured for the world cup.
Apart from his shooting he had a good game, Not his best game but he was far from the worst player on the pitch. He created alot of chances and his link up play was great. He just seems a little frustrated right now as he's not scoring at the same pace he has been since the start of the season.
Could be mistaken (I often am!) but I thought BR might have taken Sturridge off because he was being too selfish ... even for a striker! He took his goals exceptionally well but there were at least two times when he could have slid Suarez in easily and tried to score himself instead. Suarez was fuming and think it affected his game a touch. Brendan usually doesn't like that either. Under Rodger's regime the best pass is always preferred ... unless, of course, you do score!
Suarez the worst player - which joker said that? So he didn't score but he created and supported all of our forward efforts. For me the worst player was Henderson. OK, so he got goals but far too often he was intent on getting forward and leaving us undermanned in midfield. Perhaps that was because Coutinho was having a poor game.
It's one of those manager calls, Suarez will want to play every game. He's good enough to have an impact even if that isn't scoring himself so how risky would it be to rest him for a game both with our limited creators and pissing him off? One game a week does he need rested or play through the drought? I go the latter.
For me up front (rather than 3 out of 4 of our defence) it was Coutinho, disinterested, does this every other game. Leaves Hendo too much to do and Gerrard. Said it on match thread, the weakness of our system is needing 100% effort from all three midfielders and full backs. Never getting it from Johnson and only getting it every other game from Coutinho. So holes appear, big ones. And Henderson is like Skerts, give him his job and someone else's and he panics. That's not eithers fault it's the lazy bastard beside them. That's where quality bench should come in which we don't yet have.
There's a bit of something going on between Suarez and Studge. One sets up the other and then the reverse is expected so when Studge gets hungry after being handed a goal by Suarez I don't blame Suarez being irked by Studge's stingyness
...however Rodgers has to shoulder some of the blame for Henderson's lack of cover and high up position today. Our shape alternated between jello and Swiss cheese.
Thought Suarez did well. (Bar shooting). He provided, collected, and assisted well. His shots were pretty wasteful. Agree with above poster: studge was selfish and not team player today.
Sturridge is dangerous (to us) when he's on a hat trick Personally I think the hat trick is the worst concept in football, it's meaningless but ruins so much good play
I agree, I feel Suarez plays for the team and sets up Sturridge but then gets greedy for himself and expects everyone it do the same. If it works the first time then why change it?
I am over exaggerating, but Suarez seems to lack his same desire and wanting to get on the ball all the time. Our SAS are Sterling and Sturridge at the moment.
Our forward line is doing just fine despite little foibles and frictions. The focus should be on trying to tighten any other cog in our system.
Suarez has not scored for a while but he has done a lot of creating and has been grabbing a lot of assists. Suarez really does seem to be able to any thing. Today he showed his crossing ability.
