I'm assuming Monk will play his best side again in Naples, so where does that leave us for tomorrow.

My best guess is half a best team. Like to have a stab anyone....(and that's nothing to do with knives in Italy)

I still don't get why top athletes can't play 2 games in a week

More like a 75% team against Liverpool , tell them to relax , have fun and not worry about points. Full court press against Napoli and see whats up from there. Our real fork in the road in the Premier comes with playing Palace and West Brum after Napoli . All bad or good roads lead from these two extremely important games .

On the other hand, Monk might put out the same team as he did against Everton, on the basis that:

    1) if we play our best team, we would probably lose anyway, and

    2) we keep the 'A' team for Napoli and Crystal Palace.

    Liverpool:
    Vorm
    Angel, Chico, Ash, Davies
    Canas, JDG
    Hernandez, Shelvey, Routledge
    Bony

    Subs:
    Dyer
    Michu (hopefully)
    Britton

    Napoli:
    Taylor, Amat, Chico, Davies
    Britton, Shelvey
    Dyer, Michu, Routledge
    Bony

    Subs:
    Hernandez
    JDG
    Emnes

    Palace:
    Rangel, Chico, Ash, Davies
    Canas, JDG
    Hernandez, michu, Routledge
    Bony

    Subs:
    Shelvey
    Dyer
    Britton

Hopefully that will be enough rotation to not weaken our squad too much with resting key players to stay sharp. It's going to be a tough week coming up.

I hope we play much of the same as its working and we put away our chances when we get them. We will probably see less of the ball to what we are use to and as Liverpool have the best forward line regarded by many then our defenders must be on the ball and not make any mistakes or we will get punished. If everything goes to plan we can come away with something....

It's not that they can't, it's more the case that their bodies will not have fully recovered in 2 days. They won't be as sharp or as well drilled as a team with a week to prepare. It's just common sense really. This is the most competitive league in the world where the slightest of margins can determine the outcome of a game.

I know this point has come up before but Tennis players seem to be able to go for a 4 hour, 5 set match on one day then play doubles/next round within 48 hours.

Either way - if the team chosen to play is very weakened, it's just accepting what Laudrup was saying about us being in a different league. I personally think Liverpool are beatable if we have a good go, and perform like we did against Napoli.

Now I'm not trying to create anything here but I just seen an article saying some Russian club want to transfer Michu and the Russian transfer window closes next Thursday . Does that mean transfers can still happen with players going to other countries that play in the Premier now ?

Yea but the sport is completely different!
For a start football is a much more physical game, plus in a tennis tournament the players play the same amount of matches before facing each other which evens things out. unlike a team who only played Thursday night had one day of training before setting off to a hotel on Saturday against a team who has had 8 days to prepare. It's not just physical preparation it's tactical as well.

I think they are beatable too, and I'm pretty sure Monk will field a full strength squad, he's not working at our poor fitness levels for nothing, Napoli was a very good bench mark of how things are progressing nicely under Monk!.................<ok>

You make some good points there, the only thing that I found in my playing days that came close to tennis tournament was 5 a side footy competitions, really gets you in the stomach like tennis!.................<ok>

He might not pass the medical if he's still injured. If he is fit enough then cough up the £20+ mill asking price.

also a little suggestion, if you don't want to come across as a WUM then you should post a link of the article so we can check how credible the source is. Otherwise it will be completely disregarded.
