I ask because my friends and I are planning on making a new football forum website. We were hoping to incorparate profiles similar to facebook for each member with a wall space on each profile so people can interact directly with eachother but also keep a similar layout to 606 so people can post threads on thier and other clubs message boards. However, if people are already settled with thier new chosen forums after the closure of 606 then it could be a wasted project so I am interested to know your views.
For what it's worth, I like this site for the following reasons: 1. Very easy to use, especially for an old git like me. 2. I like the way the post/threads are listed down the side with how many pages of comments there are, and not like 12 yards or 606 used to be. Again, a lot easier for an old codger's eyes. 3. The highlighted threads that have been replied to since my last visit. Saves a lot of time trawling through the threads trying to remember which ones I most recently posted on or looked at. 4. Moderation on here is ACE!!!! In fact the best moderation I have ever witnessed on any forum. (Now get that malt dished out Dave)
I'm ok here too. Despite people saying it's hard to navigate, I just don't see that at all. Seems easy enough to me. Don't suck up to the mod, though, he never shares the single malt!!
I have to say I found the 12 years layout way more confusing than this and I could go on and on about the million ways this site is better...
I gave you champagne, beer and a manly hug! Still you want more! If you invent a smiley for malt whisky then I'll give you one (and a whisky)
I understand your thinking, but I think Not606 has tried something similar- there is a profile page; friend requests and capacity to send each other direct messages. The fact is as far as I know no-one uses these features- personally I've never bothered filling out my profile and I was registered here a week before I noticed I had some 'notifications' and a friend request. I think Sir NorwichFan606 has a good idea- a news feed at the top highlighting the latest news stories would be a good addition to any new forum. I'm not looking to change tho- this seems like a good site, with a positive group of regulars willing to have a laugh as well as chat about football.
Well said, RT, it's good to have somewhere to discuss football and it's good to be able to have a laugh without taking things too far off topic
