Austin made Murphy look good today, and that's not easy. He can't pass, his heading is like a two year old (Has no-one told him you're meant to use your forehead?) makes the odd lunging tackle (usually trying to recover from his first touch) and some love him for it. Might be a driving force when on his game, but he sure aint on it very often. I think BM is great for the club, the work he does behind the scenes etc, but is he great for the team? It gets harder and harder to believe in him when you watch him justify that rubbish.
Austin tends to play well for the first two or three games of the season and then goes completely of the boil. On the plus side it makes such a difference to have confidence in your keeper. Thought Butland was excellent today.
Have to agree. You cant win games when 3 of 4 in midfield aren't at it, whether through lack of skill, effort or committment.
Missed the game today as I was out and about, and doesn't sound like it was a bad thing! We really need some work.
Commentator on Sky said if Cellino wants to get Leeds promoted we are 5-6 players short, something many have said all along.
Too late for this season now anyway, but I think only a blind person fail to se that now. No offence meant to anyone.
Not sure who the commentator was if I am honest but he said 5-6, it wasn't Beagrie, whoever was next to him replied that we have several contracts up in the summer so the argument for would be that we will certainly have spaces.
The keeper did well today. When you consider how many poor back passes he had to deal with and the amount of times he had ball in hand looking for a quick outlet out wide and we far too often offered none to him. Warnock was popping up all over the place today, his corners were poor though and still have no idea what he was doing when he nearly scored an own goal. Again I wasn't sure what Hunt was attempting when he had a clear header and was unmarked if he was aiming for goal or trying to head it back across. I was clueless what Kebe was waiting for when he managed to still have the ball at his feet on the edge of their box near the end.
Butland is a quality keeper. Kebe is worse than Varney. Hunt should be put down. The argument for sacking BeMacDee was there for anyone who wants to see it. We don't battle our midfield neither closes down and tackles or produces any chances. Why was Smith on the bench for 75 minutes whilst Hunt walked around doing nothing apart from getting in the way. We are 8-9 players short of a promotion first team and 20 short of a decent squad.
