I think this topic is a bit like religion. There's no point coming out with statistics, facts or opinions, it seems that people have made their mind up what they want to believe and nothing is going to change it. Focussing on grammatical issues just proves it. Everyone here knows that you mean your post when you mention your article Roof, but instead of risking being slapped in the face by the facts, some are focussing on that word 'article'.
we took 9 so much for relegation form aye, so we didn't do as bad as people actually thought. Prior to that run we were well on target for 47 points, so why all the panic all of a sudden? You yourself given the players we had would take 10-12 points, wo why so downhearted at taking 9?
What a load of bullshit. What utter, utter bullshit. Let me give you a fact that is both unrefutable and deliciously relevant... He's not our manager any more so his form means absolutely and completely **** all. This thread feels like another pissing contest between the "we shouldn't have sacked Laudrup" team and the "Monk is the saviour" team. Perhaps the perspective should be that football teams sometimes part ways with their managers. Sometimes it's under a cloud. This has happened to the Swans in 2014. We have a new manager. It is Garry Monk. The jury is out, but so far, so good.
It was the performances that concerned me the most. I like most here expected us to be in the bottom 6-7 at the end of January given the games we had coming up, but the performance against WHU was the final straw for me as it did not inspire any confidence that Laudrup could change our form around at all, which suggested that Laudrup had indeed lost the dressing room, which is why the resons for his sacking need to be made public, as the 'rumours' about training, and tactics etc seem to coincide with performances on the pitch, and if a manager loses the dressing room, there is only one outcome. Time to move on, we have a new manager who has done better than everyone thought he would have done so far, so lets all get behind the guy
His form means absolutely everything to us, as the season is not over and his form has a say on whether we stay up or go down, some of us believe it was that to take us down, others of us felt it was that which would have kept us up, so very relevant indeed.
It's rather refreshing that everyone is arguing over a football topic, better than us all turning on each other
I thought I was all over the facts. Laudrup isn't here any more and his form doesn't count either. Whether I liked or disliked what he was doing is also irrelevant. For that reason, I omitted it from the post. For a long time we've had a problem with childish, petty infighting on the board and threads like this polarise fans to either end of a completely redundant argument that Laudrup is anything to us other than a page in a history book. This thread appeared to start with a long diatribe about how well Laudrup was doing. He's been gone for weeks and the new guy is doing ok (so far). I just don't think it helps.
That is a fair point, but then why Monk in charge? Now Monk was club captain, surely part of his role is to motivate the players, just like its Ash's job to motivate the players on the pitch, why is Curtis still in the job as he was first team coach was he not? Why is it only Laudrups group of coaches that were given the boot? Nothing adds up, if it was lack of commitment, then thats partly down to Ash, Monk, Curtis, Laudrup. Then why is Monk given the top role? If its training, then its down to Laudrup, Curtis, Laudrups guys. So why is Curtis still in the job? Why was Curtis not given the caretaker role over monk? Monk is in charge and he will get my full support, but you can't possibly tell me you understand his appointment over others, or why some kept their roles, and others didnt?
Jee shaper , where were you when people were posting every day about" 36 points in39 games " . I put up one article in defence and everyone wants it to disapper . I am100 % behind Monk , I am100% behind the truth also .
That's a better question. I suppose we don't know the exact dynamic of people's roles on the training ground. Maybe it was part of HJ manager picking process. Maybe Curtis didn't want it! I've never heard him make noises like he's wanted to be in charge before (I don't think). If Monk has been progressing in a more positive manner towards achieving his badges, he could have been the best man for a job that HJ doesn't want to deal with until the summer.
All we can do with these questions is speculate, which is why the truth needs to come out sooner rather than later, so that the fans know what happened and why they happened.
Lolz! Sorry, It's not a dig at you. I sometimes get a bit frustrated that we can get a bit distracted by over-deliberating situations that have ended. It wasn't your post alone that warmed my blood. It was the Laudrup out vs Monk in fight I could see starting and it gets so bad I'd almost put on a Justin Bieber album in an act of deliberate self harm!!!
Obviously because they thought Monk would do a better job. On the evidence so far they have been proven spectacularly right.
I love Monk , always have , always will. I actually hope we keep him for next season and get him some transfer help , I just don't trust Huw to give him that chance . I don't think Laudrup should have been sacked , but that being said , I'm happy with Monk being the manager for a long time , if he's doin a good job , just wanted to refute that 36 points in 39 games with my own stats , thats all .
Those last10 games last season are 12 months ago valley lol. I want to move on , I know Monk is here and Laudrup is gone . I don't care if no one wants to give Laudrup any credit whatsoever , fine. I don't even care if people don't have any respect for him . But I draw the line when he's disrespected and will defend this great man that brought us so , so much .
