Not really, the fact most clubs are losing money had over fist despite the wealth sloshing about shows it's not the money going in, but the fools dishing it out that are the problem.

I'm only going by what I've read in the papers. And what Coleen told me!

The football market is heavily biased towards capital gains rather than revenue.

I know what each word means, and I can pick out some of the concepts, but I'm out of my depth with the bigger meaning of the whole statement, and again, i know this is your forte, so I guess I've shown my ignorance twice in one thread.

They're not bothered about profits/losses, they just want to sell the club for more than they paid for it.

Look at Allam, he has to spend money to be sure of staying in the Premier League. The more he spends the less likely the club is going to make a profit but it's more likely that he will be able to sell the club for more money. I doubt whether he'll get all his money back though.

When you have Chelsea and Manchester City not bothering to make a profit then the remaining serious players are worried about being left out of the Champions League. Whatever FFP says.

Aye, but take ours as an example. The amount the club owes isn't the same as what the chairman shells out, as some of it is simply using other assets as security on debts that brings money to the lender, so how do you calculate what it truly cost?

So it's effectively writing off the initial "debt"?

You have to take into account the following:
tax relief available within the group,
    interest received on loans,
interest paid out on loans to put money into Hull City,
    salaries to the Allams,
money put into Hull City and
whatever the club can be sold for

this is a case of an employee receiving a wage from a private company - they've decided he's worth that money so he is.

notice it said up to £300k a week. thats means its based on a myriad of conditions and probably involves him scoring 50 goals helping them to win the treble. it probably includes image rights which the club directly makes from him, which would be many millions given his status.

he's got a talent which reflects his salary, the same as any job.

Now they've pushed Mata to the right to play Rooney in the middle.

If you're going to spend £37M on someone to play on the right wing, it should at least be a ****ing winger not someone who'll have no effect from there.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. He's a class player, that isn't going to change because he plays on the right.

Hasn't he played there for Chelsea quite a bit anyway?

I'm just going from the live commentary from Sky that after about half an hour said:

"Mata has been a peripheral figure so far, trying to drift in from the right to influence proceedings."
