Good ideas but the police and the SAG want fans, who they regard. As dangerous subversives, out of the stadium as soon as possible, where they the have to engage in a scrum with the people coming the other way as the fence means they have to go the long way round from both directions. The fact away fans are amongst those you encounter just illustrates the pointlessness of the fence and the ineptness of the police.
As for stopping in Hull, again the police would soon put the mockers on that. There are already examples of them mucking things up for people who wanted to stop or who came over on the ferry. Groups of people making a noise and having a drink are regarded as dangerous by our local police and are to be curtailed as much as possible.
For all the talk of Hull being a vibrant, pioneering, innovative city and the gateway to Europe it is anything but.

At Brighton there's no fence and the home and away fans left the stadium at the final whistle and everything was fine. The more that is encouraged and the police only target genuine thugs the better.

Won't happen in Hull with the idiots in charge of policing football matches unfortunately. They put a fence there which inconveniences loads of people but let the away fans out to mingle anyway. So why not remove the bloody fence?

Wider gates in my opinion, at least for now. There's the odd incident still happens with groups of brain dead thugs, as we've seen for ourselves in the last 5 or so years, millwall and west ham here, some of our lot at Hillsborough last season, crystal palace fans battering an old lady and nicking her walking stick this season, as long as Neanderthal things like those still happen I'd rather large groups of scum can be locked safely behind whilst we all get away safely.

As soon as it's truly eradicated, pull the bloody things down.

So often what you call scum are simple normal fans. No wonder lots of fans don't go to away matches given how they get treated.

I could be wrong, I'm going by memory here. At an away match at sunderland some years ago, Hull fans were kept behind by a large police presence as sunderland "fans" pelted us with coins. I objected to being kept behind and was informed by an officer that they didn't have the right to hold us back, but were doing so for our safety and I was free to leave if I wished.

the gates/fences at the kc are just stupid

they let the away fans leave 50 feet up the fence which passes all the city fans anyway.. but we have to wait 10-15 mins to get through.. i spoke to a rather fit copper, and she told me, it's not their choice, it's the stadium managers and she agreed it's daft as ****

while she wrote her number on a caution ticket

When I was at Stoke one year, I was in the away pen (I guess that's the best way to describe the walled in area outside the turnstile) having a cig before going in and bricks and glass bottles started over the wall.

Another year, the time in the prem when McShane did a proper McShane and let Ricardo Fuller truly humiliate him, on the way back to the car which was parked at their youth academy, a huge skinhead stoke with his 4 or 5 year old kid, bearing in mind they'd just easily beaten us, he just started gobbling off all that, I carried on walking just ignored him so he jumped in his car, spun his wheels and flew right up the path properly trying to mow me down, I just jumped out the way and jumped in our car, he sat at the end of the road and waited for us to drive down on the way out then flew at us and tried to ram us.

Stewards/traffic controllers or whoever they were in high vis' were there and they just watched.

I'll never go to a game at Stoke again.
