Yes, but in the Premier League, baring in mind that Sky believe football began in 1992? Walker and Lambert are the only two truly successful ones at least... Brilliant news about Howson though. Edit: John Deehan, Gary Megson and Nigel Worthington are our other Premier League managers. Aren't all three at least partly responsible for taking us down in the years they were in charge?

Ok Walker, Deehan, Megson, Worthington, Lambert and Hughton by my reckoning. Makes Hughton a better manager (in terms of record) than any of the three in bold, which admittedly isn't that impressive, but still better than I thought It makes him comparable with Stringer, which is pretty good
Perhaps. Whereas many people seem to think that the ten team relegation scrap this year is due to the Premier League becoming worse in quality, I'd like to think that the opposite is true: there are so many teams struggling because everyone has improved. It's almost impossible to compare so I'm sure many will disagree with me, but that's my opinion.
but how much has he spent against them? even if you take into account inflation it doesn't sound fantastic! I suppose this is where the old line, there are Statistics and then there are lies come into play, you could say that Hughton is only better than Deehan, Megson & Worthy. its all spin.
I'm not denying that. I'm just saying I'm surprised. Perhaps I shouldn't be, I don't know, but I still am. I suppose I thought Deehan would have done marginally better, and I assumed Stringer was much better. As I implied when I first posted it - it's not a big deal, but I was astonished because it doesn't quite match my perception

There is a very good reason why Chris has spent more money than our previous managers, it is also true that Chris has spent less on our team than other teams around us comparatively, but hey, don't let facts get in the way of your attempted trouble making!
Really glad Howson is back in contention. Him and Tettey getting injured was the biggest blow so far this season. Hopefully his drive through the midfield will help to push the team forward.
sorry dave but i don't think i am, what is the very good reason why CH has spent so much, considering the fact that he took over a side that finished 12th in the premiership? and i would probably put money on that he spent less comparatively to other sides than walker and lambert, and probably more than the other 3. Listen my main point is how sources like sky can say that hughton has the 3rd best ratio of norwich managers in the premiership, yet it is hardly in a field of hundreds.
Megson was only manager for a handful of games though so not really fair to include him. Basically that stat says that Hootun has a better record in the top flight than Deehan and Worthington, which is hardly a lot to shout about to be honest.

I appreciate it doesn't tell much of a story, I was just surprised. I get that when you actually look at it, it's not a big deal (which is why I didn't make another thread). Fair call Rob, if they are correct then i hold my hands up. I am quite surprised Lambert spent nearly 13m in his season! I'm struggling to think of who it could have been on. the leeds trio at a guess. Also apologies from myself cromer.
Yep, although they were actually quite cheap. The "big"(!) spends were Ryan Bennett for £3.4m, Pilks for £2m, Vaughan for £2.5m, Morison for £2m and E Bennett for £1.5m Looking at that list it looks like Lambert wasted quite a bit of that £13m! Though obviously Morison and E Bennett played their part in a successful first season, if not long term. I always had Lambert down as a very good transfer record, but that little lot suggests it's not resounding
