Top four must be the priority and if Sherwood really was more iinterested, he would have played Adebayor with the form he's in, to make sure we take our chances.
I dont like Ramos being the last manager to win a cup with us, I want us to win something this decade. I dont think this is the year
I don't want Ramos reaching the next round at our expense. Especially after the bollocks he came up with the other day.
Apparently he was right about the diet, Dawson confirmed he made changes because the players where out of shape and they lost a shed load of weight. Rest was mostly bollocks.
This. I know we all want to win a trophy, but going out could be a blessing in disguise. With all the CL teams now in the competition too, it makes the challenge much tougher. Is now the time to focus on top 4 with no other distractions?
From BBC at 18:51: 'Unfortunately, there is little else to tell you from around the continent. The game between Greek side PAOK and last season's runners up Benfica of Portugal is one of five other earlier kick-offs which remains goalless. One of PAOK and Benfica will face Tottenham in the next stage.' Nice to see some optimism!
My problem wasn't the line up but that we were totally unprepared and it's been like that in a few matches. We start slowly because we don't know what the opposition are going to be playing like and once the players get a handle on things we tend to improve. Today was just far too many basics missing though. The players naturally want to push a high line and play the ball along the floor which wouldn't work on that pitch and Sherweed did nothing to change this. If he was planning for Norwich instead then he's got no choice but to win that match comfortably. If we don't win then he's disrespected the senior players he put out tonight and should be out on his arse on Monday. We shouldn't waste our time with someone who doesn't have a clue.
We played a lot like we did under Ramos: disorganised without the ball, disjointed when we had the ball, and directionless when trying to put the ball in the opposition's goal.
Too much over reaction here as Sherwood was getting slated pre match against Newcastle for his line up, doesn't have a clue etc. He proves people wrong. Now he's getting slated for a poor performance, when all managers in recent times,Avb, Ramos, Jol and even Redknapp had games where we looked unprepared. Sherwood has got the team picking up points and if Adebayor played today, I suspect we would be saying 'crap performance but got the job done' He's trying to get Soldado up to speed but he misses a sitter and overall Sherwood has us right up there challenging for top four, so one crap away performance in Europe doesn't override the league form
I didn't see the game or any highlights… busy moving home so missed the lot. So can someone tell me if Soldado is a total plank or did he miss a sitter because of some unlucky bobble? Seems he can't hit a barn door these days!
Jeez… we have a £26m striker with zero belief, finesse or form. Just another classic last gasp buy!
ok.Reserves mostly on the field while Tim gets his "first teamers" ready for Norwich. I wonder if our forwards had ever played together on the field or in training Sure didn't look like it! Thanks to Brad we are still in with a chance. If our "first teamers" lose to Norwich,I hope our "first teamers" are on the field in the second leg because we will be beyond 4th place and we desparately need a trophy!!!! IF we finish in the top 4,will the management start playing reserves in the Champions so we can finish in the top 4 at the end of next season and then play reserves in the Champions yet again while trying yet again for the top 4? Crazy?Yep! But this seems to be happening every season now. I always thought one competed to try and win but we (the club) seem disinterested. If Spurs don't want to play in the Europa, give the place to someone else.I'm sure Fat Sam would jump at the chance!!!!
Unless you're really bored and wanting to spend 90 mins armed with reasons to moan, then I suggest you put it down as one of them games you simply missed! Crap atmosphere ( to be expected) awful pitch. Players looked unsure but Soldado should have scored and Paulinho hit the post. Just wasn't our night, but Sherwood won't be happy and will be looking for a reaction against Norwich so if we beat Norwich and win the return leg then that's all that matters, to keep everyone happy!
To be honest, with the scenes I am seeing unfolding in Kiev, I find it pretty unbelievable that a football match actually took place. Some of the footage shows people just losing it. Whether you are pro or anti-EU, what I am seeing is just people losing any level of humanity, empathy or sanity and the whole situation is descending into chaos. It's very sad and to have a football match take place whilst civilians and police are dying whilst the rich wage war is just terrible! Take a butchers at this. It's truly scary! http://rt.com/news/horrifying-videos-kiev-maidan-901/ People are fighting and being killed over the ideology of politicians (who are invariably sociopathic liars). Just think for a moment just how insane that is!
Thanks for adding perspective, flaspur. The game never should have taken place, really. It was a depressing and dispiriting game, no doubt, but I think the barbs directed against the manager and all but one of the players are a little OTT. Really we played a similar style to how we played against Newcastle--get some end to end action going and count on our greater quality to get goals. The difference was this game our greater quality was lesser quality as Soldado and Chadli missed sitters. If they'd banged them in, we probably would have won comfortably. Missing sitters is a big problem but it's a matter of nerves, not something anyone can control. I don't feel like beating up on Soldado because I'm sure he's beating up on himself, probably more than is good for him. The one player I would really slate from the game is Townsend, who put in about as selfish and thoroughly unprofessional performance as I can remember seeing. Most of the players leaned that way here and there occasionally, perhaps understandably--I remember Bentaleb making a simple pass to the right man and thinking we haven't seen one of those for a little while. Paulinho, who I think has been guilty of playing too selfishly at times in the past, was a notable exception, turning in a good effort at what amounted to CAM, as was Bentaleb. But Townsend did absolutely nothing except try to demonstrate his awesome skilz, culminating in an utterly pathetic 40 yard shot that just about stopped rolling before it reached the exact middle of the goal.
Yes Flaspur.Could you believe the sight of brave Cossacks beating up girls with weapons? They need 6 months in Siberia.....but then it's not the USSR anymore is it,Comrade Putin? Is it Comrade Pukin? ....and I was led to believe that the Cossacks were special......!
