It depends how things go this season, so too early to tell. If he does really well then I don't see why players wouldn't sign for the club with him in charge. They'd be signing for a club in top half of one of the best league's in the world. I doubt they're going to sign for a lower club just because they happen to have a famous manager. A few might, but we can do without those sorts of players anyone. If players just come for the manager, then they are more likely to leave when the manager does, so it's not a good situation to be in.

If we stay up under Monk (I deliberately put it that way as opposed to "Monk keeping us up" because it will be the players who do that) Jenkins will keep him because he will be cheap as chips compared to a proven, experienced manager. But if we do stay up I think he should be given his chance.

However, I wonder what the board's reaction will be if results are bad in the first dozen games?

I think a couple of people have summed this up nicely.
Firstly, we can't say anything at this point. Let's see what happens.
Secondly, saying we don't want him because he doesn't have experience at this level must have a very short memory.

Rodgers took us up and is taking Liverpool to places in the table they haven't seen in a very long time.
Roberto went from transforming us to keeping Wigan up against all odds (until he could do no more) and is now taking Everton to what looks like their best finish in a long time.
Laudrup never managed in the Premier League and the other leagues he did manage in don't really compare to the PL.

If results go better than laudrups which i have no doubt it will then Monk will be the permanent manager from next season. We wont go for any big names not after the time we have had over 18 months of premiership football ever again....Monk is here to stay...<ok>

Regardless of what happens now, I think any doubts regarding Monks inexperience can be quashed.

If he can keep getting performances like tonight out to the players, then the job should be his.

    Laudrup couldn't <ok>

Where in the world are we going to get another manager better than monk to play the Swansea way. I have no doubt in my mind that the job is all but his all but the shouting...Who needs all these expensive Big name managers that will never be happy until the put their stamp on the team and ruin everything....With monk its already set in his type of football and we can now move forward...

I hope it works out well for Monk, the lads seem to have raised thier game for him and the injured are coming back quickly now. I expect michu to get back on form sharpish as the fully fit switched on squad that weve assembled over the years are a formidable side against anyone we are likely to face.
Monk will need all the help he can get from the board and scouts etc to attract quality additions in the summer. Also success attracts succcess plus the money we get every year were up here will help too.

That is my only worry is that will monk be able to attract the players, apart from that he hasnt put a foot wrong since he has come in even with his changes for the everton game we were holding our own until the individual mistakes

Its vary rarely a player will join a club just because of the manager believe me. Players are attracted to all sorts of things like the most popular is they like the type of football teams play and what contract is on offer also what they have seen and heard about a club, Also by word of mouth by our players, And don't forget the scouts who play a major roll in persuading players to come.....Also don't underestimate monk either as he has been in football a very long time and has more contacts and pull than you think...

Dai, most of us know we wouldn't have got some of our current players if it wasn't for the pull of working with ML.

Yes the club of course has its own pull, but the pull of ML was huge for us. Yes he has gone, and its debatable whether he was a good manager or not, but he was a big reason we have the likes of Pablo, Michu, Chico, they may not have looked at us twice had it not been for ML.

Yes Garry has been in the game for years, but he is not a household name, well apart from us and Cardiff fans (for reasons of rivalry) many will know very little of our main man. The worry for me is the goings on right now re the board and ML, is not doing us any favours, an dthe good work we are doing on the pitch to raise the pull, is being knocked back by the shenanigans off the pitch, as a great result and display against Napoli will raise our profile, but this whole crap off the pitch is also enough to knock it back down.

I have a bad feeling its going ot be a tough summer, doubt we will lose anyone unless the price is right, but find it hard to think who we will bring in, our January transfers didn't exactly shout out quality, so what for our summer.

Don't believe the bull that they joined because of a manager because when any player is asked why he joined they all come out with that rubbish because it's the easiest answer rather than telling anyone what contract and money they are on. and as for monk not being a well known name then that can be said about the majority of managers in the premiership, Do you think for one minute that Moyes has any pull at man utd or martinez at liverpool, of course not. they join a club because they are wanted and its the right move for them...If they think the type of football is for them and the contract is right then it don't matter who the manager is...

I notice you used the two clubs that have a history that creates its own pull.

And if you honestly believe that ML had no influence on the signing of some of our players, then sorry Dai, your living in your own little dream-world. I know you don't like the guy, but be fair. Do you honestly not think that someone like Mourinho doesn't have some sort of pull at Chelsea, and although Chelsea will have its own pulling power, Mourinho adds to that. Just like ML added to ours.

We will see how much pull as a club we have during the summer.

And anyway, why is it you will use quotes if they fall in line with your thinking as proving your point, but you will then tell us they say these things for the sake of it when it doesn't suit your point. Its a bit hypocritical isn't it? The whole JDG quote debacle with you proved that, when you said that saying "we needed change" was a huge thing in your point, yet dismissed the few words he said before that in the same sentence about being happy under ML as being just random chat to please the masses.

Dont be so gullible...What the hell has laudrup done as a manager that anyone would want to follow him <laugh> dont be silly now and listen to someone a lot wiser and have the t-shirt to prove it..<whistle> what would yo do for example.....nobody follows the manager they go for the best deal for them and if that happens to have your old manager there then thats a bonus ....but a player wont join their ex manager if the deal is not right..<ok>
