When you miss THREE in a row, maybe he should have re-think. I certainly hope Wenger has and Ozil has been removed from the list.

That's not what he saidi n his interview yesterday. He said it was between ozil, Cazorla or Sagan and that cazorla has also missed recently. Unless I. Have missed an inter view and can't find the quotes on google?

Agreed after missing a few in a row you probably lose some confidence and I wouldnt be against changing him from being near the top of the penalty taker list lol but I think having a moan or putting a player down after a penalty miss is counter productive and unfair.

It was after the OM game, he said Ozil was meant to take it because Arteta was not on the pitch. In fact at that time he was ahead of Giroud as well.

He should be nowhere near that list. Unless you want us to miss another pen.

Even being kind to Ozil after last night, you have got to say that it was a ****ing **** penalty.

It's was too ****ing weak. Especially against a monster like Neur. Lampard had the right idea in the CL final. Blasted it straight over that ****'s head and into roof of the net.

I haven't disagreed once about it being a **** penalty lol, could have been worse, but it was a poor penalty. Really not very good at all.

But I just think moaning about penalty misses is. Stupid. It isn't a guaranteed goal, it's huge pressure and the gk has a say in the matter as well.

Just think its stupid. Would never dream of having a go at a teammate who missed a penalty so why as fans is it ok to slate a player in that situation? Saying its a bad pen is fine, but going on about it and taking real issue with it just seems ott to me, penalty misses happen.

I've seen messi, Henry bergksmp, and plenty of others take worse penalties than that. But regardless I just don't think its a reason to put a player down. Penalty misses happen.

I'm not knocking Ozil, I thought he started the game brilliantly and it was his run that won the pen in the first place. But you have to say that his Penalty was ****ing dire and ended up being a pretty easy save for Neuer. What alarmed me though was that it visably rocked Ozil and his confidence just drained away after that. He's a top quality talent, but he's going to need to learn to take the knocks in this league and come back fighting.

Another reason why he should not have taken it. The miss affected him so badly.

Agreed it was a shame that it affectedh is confidence, but to be fair to him even after the missed pen he was involved in all of our decent attack play bar the sanogo-oxo chance. He also continued to run himself into the ground for the full 90mins despite some people being sure he is lazy and doesn't bother...

I can just see the ozil critics gaining momentum and I think given that he has been described as a flower and a player who needs to feel appreciated that getting on his back too early would be a big mistake from the fans. Let's not got ott and let's recognise actually he has been a very good asset to the team.

Lol that's great with hindsight but before he took it there wa no way to know if he would score and therefor no idea if it would effect his confidence lol

I agree with you fella, I think Ozil has had a good first season and this isn't a reason to get on his back. The lazy quotes are, well ... just lazy. Ozil is a hard worker and doesn't shy away from his duties. I just thought that last night he was facing an uphill battle after the pen and sending off. His game isn't based on defence but he was forced into trying to offer cover for Monreal who was getting turned inside out by Robben. Our attacking chances were limited, so he never really had a chance to shine. Woe for that pen miss though, the game and Ozil's night could have been so different if that had gone in. But there we go, it didn't and Ozil will have to pick himself up for Sunderland on Saturday.

If a player is that fragile mentally he shouldnt be taking penalties to start with. Can you imagine lampard disappearing from a game because he missed a penalty? The problem was that there was no other player on the pitch that's ever taken one for us

For those who think ozil doesn't care it's probably worth reading the bbc sport article with quotes from wenger about it and ozils Facebook apology for messing up.

    from Metro

"Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Ozil were involved in a heated argument in front of Arsenal fans during last night’s Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

The Frenchman can be seen barking tactical instructions to the £42million midfielder after the Gunners star failed to track an Arjen Robben run into the box, but Ozil aggressively brushed off his team-mate in frustration.

The scenes marked a torrid night for Arsenal’s record signing, who missed an early penalty and spent the whole of the second-half playing in an unfamiliar left-wing role after the home side were reduced to ten men.

Ozil then trudged off the field at the final whistle after exchanging shirts with Dante, without acknowledging the crowd like his team-mates. "
