Watched the game last night because I wanted to see how far the once mighty Bayern Munich (last season's Bundesliga winners in fact) had fallen having got themselves a new manager.

Seems not to be the case, how strange. Rather than go down the pan it would seem they found themselves a manager (approached him as soon as he announded his break), someone they knew could do the job, someone whothey knew had proven experience at the highest level and more importantly, somebody the entire board approved of.

Bloomin Germans eh, why couldn't we have thought of doing something like that ??

Oh yes I forgot, stupid blind faith in the opinion of one man who thought more about his mate than the club.

When Bayern turn it on, they're better than Barca.

In full flow they **** you up.

I thought Arsenal played reasonably well last night considering what happened.

Guardiola should have been approached as soon as he went on his break, yes. No doubt, he should have been number one choice and remains so if it ever became possible.

Slight difference in squad quality/age though don't you think? To which he immediately added.

Or do you still really believe our squad is brilliant?

I thought we did approach him? Wasn't there stories of us having meetings with him in New York?

I think he was approached and didn't want it. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't have wanted to take over after fergie with a team that was at the end of its dominance. I firmly believe it would have been a poisoned chalice to whoever took the job. Yeah maybe mourinho would have us playing better. Still don't believe we would be challenging for the title though.

And in the process, fired their current manager in the middle of the season.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...decision-to-retire-was-not-entirely-voluntary

I'd have loved to have seen the reaction if, in the middle of SAF's final season, before he'd announced his retirement, the Glazers announced that he was being replaced at the end of the season. There'd have been green and gold Molotov cocktails flying around OT.

And didn't it all go just peachy when SAF announced his mid season retirement in 2002 and the board got Sven to sign a contract nice and early. Oh, the trophies we won as a result...

    Hes got a point...

Bayern went for a manager worthy of the club.

    We didnt.

Bayern dont and wont regret their decision.

Few if any at United, or following united dont regret the mistake we made.

Its as simple as that. United ****ed up during a summer when 2 of the worlds best managers were available. Massively ****ed up.

You guys were going to be in the same position no matter who was in charge, you are still giving players 34+ ample game time.... Your squad should have been overhauled years ago.

Nothing to do with being poor. Why would he waste 5hours just to drive to training everyday?

He's a family man and i doubt he'd be able to live in manchester while his family is living in london.

Why would you think he and his family wouldn't move home?

I dount he gives much of a **** about London tbh. Ypu probably have a quote saying otherwise though, he says many things.

Like most humans though he realises the north is better, in every way. Less noncey, less puffy, further away from France ( failure) and fewer people have **** on their heads.

    North>south.

Why would they enroll in college in london without knowing the destination of his next job?

    <laugh>

Were talking hypothetically, and if he'd been offered the Utd job he would obviously have enrolled his kid in a college in close proximity to his new home in the burbs surrounding Manchester.
