A lot of people want to slate him after last night against Bayern. True he missed the pen and that affected his confidence. Also he offered very little protection for Monreal on the left and overall it was a game to forget for him. But that said, he started brilliantly and had he put that pen away and we'd remained 11 v 11 he may well have gone on to have a brilliant game. So where do we stand with Ozil at the moment ? He has the ability to change the game in an instant and overall this season is second or third in the assist league. It's still his first season in the PL and he's played nearly every game, so it's going to take some adjustment. For me the lad is top class and I think he'll find his form at Arsenal soon enough. I just hope that people don't get on his back too much, because he does seem to be somebody who is affected by poor confidence.
His ability is not in doubt, but i have to question his desire. He really strolls around like he can't be bothered. I do feel wenger is playing him way too much it remind me on FM where you buy a big player and he is not as quite as good as you expected yet you play him constantly hoping something clicks. Think he needs to be dropped for Ros or Pod (pod on left and Santi in the middle) he needs a kick up the backside. I dont doubt his talents and maybe next season we will see more when he has settled more. However right now he is not brilliant enough to warrant his lazy attitude. I would add think he is a better player when he has runners to pass to and cover for his lazyness ala ramsey, theo, oxo and ros. So maybe when they are fit we will see a different player. But right now needs to be dropped for a few.
I'm no fan of dropping a player who's off their game. All it takes is one moment to go your way and confidence can come flooding back. Only the biggest of idiots would think Ãzil isn't a prodigeous talent so I say utilise it. His style of play means he never looks like he's bustling around but that doesn't mean he's inactive! It's his passing and movement that make him such an asset and in the first 30 minutes he looked brilliant imo. We moved about quickly and he revelled in that. The penalty last night was one of those tipping points. Had it gone in he'd no doubt have finished the game in style but it sucked the confidence out of him. Losing Chezzers meant he was dropped to the wing which is clearly not his strong point and he suffered further. Personally I'd have kept Santi on and sacrificed Mesut for Fabianski. It would have kept our shape a bit better and preserved Ãzil's ego/confidence. I'd definitely start him against Sunderland and I hope Wenger is earning his wages and giving him a mental pick-me-up.
His first season in the Prem and he's done well. The problem is the price tag which is making everyone expect him to perform miracles, and that wasn't his fault really. We haven't seen the best of Ozil or Arsenal for that matter. Even though we are second, I don't think we've played amazing or anything, just consistently and defended really well. Add to the fact that Walcott has been out, a non-world class CF, an inconsistent left wing and inexperienced right wing, hasn't done Ozil any favours. If you look at our attackers this season and when say Fabregas was playing for us, Fabs had better targets in RVP, Nasri and on form Arshavin.
He played well for half an hour and was decent against Liverpool. The thing that annoys me is that Wenger moved him out left and even when it was clear that didnt work he never made any changes. Our manager can be pretty tactically inept at times. On the other hand though What has Podolski got to do to get a bloody game??
personally as a Sunderland fan, I've lost the fear factor in him after he tore us to shreds in the last fixture. But he is a class player make no mistake. But all overseas players need time to settle, some times they settle quickly, but as you know to well from Olivier Giroud sometimes it takes longer, don't worry, he''ll get there eventually. He is a class act after all.
Far too lazy for a PL club in my opinion. A class player, but you'd expect more from him to be honest. Next season will be his big test
So far he has looked a fraction of his price tag. I have proudly become an expert in the matter as we have a team blessed with two 30/26 million players that look equally crap at their value.
42m is a lot of money and he hasn't justified that price tag yet, although there are a few points to note: The fee wasn't down to him. He has had a decent first season so far. Soldaldo and Lamela have been utter crap.
He will be fine. Needs more pace around him, though. The lazy thing is bollocks. He covered plenty of ground last night, but one things for sure, he should never ever take a pen again.

Yeah, but Lamela has showed NOTHING. He looked weak both mentally and physically and now he is out with an 'injury'.
Spurs might as well given the 30m spent on Lamela away to charity, it's had the same result. Lamela has offered precisely **** all and now wants out of Spurs. When you total up that money and what they spent on Soldado, that's a whopping 60m straight down the pan.
He should have learnt that after the Marseille game- as should have Wenger. Last night it ****ed up his confidence beyond belief and with the red card he, like the rest of the team, had a fight on to stay in the tie - which we are still in......just.
Yep, with Giroud and Arteta out, we did not have any obvious takers. But, Cazorla would have been my choice, he can strike a ball with actual power.
Kos would have been my choice, no fear, foot through the ball, and he wouldn't be dragging his chin along the 10 mins after the pen had he missed....
