Assuming you get through this round of the C.L, so hope you get Bayern or Barca in the quarters so we can see how the 'chosen one' fares against Europe's elite!!
They were disappointing that season losing La Liga to an relatively ordinary real side lead by RVP. We beat them comfortably at home and drew away to them in the group stages. They were much better when we played them 2004/5 and 05/6. The team was on the slide and in disarray when United beat them 07/8
No it means they were still at that time a superb team, if you want to pretend otherwise knock yourself out.
This^. After winning Champions League 06, their desire went down until Pep took over. They were at their very best 2008-April 2012, superb, 04-06, very good 06/7, and in a mess by 07/8
Page would you say Chelsea were still the best team in Europe the season after we won the CL? Point proven.
Of course not Super and was merely pointing that they weren't as bad at team that season as was pointed out, and for example Man Yoo weren't PL champions when the entered the CL in their treble winning season but the team that won it were the team that had failed to win the premier league the previous season. Chelsea's achievements are sound by me, just not having it that Barca were not a good team when we beat them on their own turf yet again, our record against them is the best by any English club and Barca being Barca that's an achievement in itself. http://www.footballzz.co.uk/confronto_equipas.php?op=ver_confronto&equipa_1=85&equipa_2=40
I think our record against them is pretty good as well http://www.11v11.com/teams/chelsea/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Barcelona
I'm sorry for the following, simply cant resist - Chelsea have NEVER been the best team in Europe and as for when you won the European Cup you must have had Terry, Malouda and Drogba shagging Lady Luck till she dropped and never of any use to any man again!! As for being not so good the Season after? - Actually you were one of the best in Europe from end January onwards.
We were the best team in Europe in 2009 and easily joint best along with United in 2008. Stop making **** up.
You'd struggle to find any team that didn't benefit from some luck along the way to winning the C.L and we were due some fortune.
Due some fortune, what over and above having an owner able to spend billions on your team? I think you'll find that was enough fortune to last a lifetime.
That has nothing to do with the players though, many who suffered bad luck in the competition for years before finally winning it. And what luck did we even have in 2012? Drawing Napoli, Benfica, Barca and Bayern in a row? Having to play the final on Bayern's own pitch despite Uefa previously stating that situation would never happen again? If it was luck, we made it with hard work, good defending and taking chances when they came.
