Call me greedy, but if it was a case of either or and the fans got to decide, I'd take the extra £250 in my own pocket and let the club change the name, cash in my own pocket will make a far bigger difference to me personally than the name of the club I support changing. Not to mention if it goes up that much, at present it would probably price me out of a season ticket, and I'd much rather get to go to every game. Maybe an easy choice for those with cash falling out of their ears to take the moral high ground, as would I if I could easily afford it, but every penny of mine is tied up and it would make it a strain for me to keep going for the time being otherwise.
So it's Allams fault the library closed? Is it sod. And the council axed other services as well, including another library if I remember correctly. The fact is, the library never got used and it cost £85k a year for nothing. Sports village or no sports village, can you really see enough people using it to justify an 85k per year expense in the face of huge council cut backs? The library would have closed anyway, evidently there's enough libraries to cater for demand else it would have been used more. And the other library you say would have been closed in its place, if there was another library being under used enough to justify being closed, it would already be closed.
It's not that much smaller, only 30k. If you take out the 2 egg chasing teams fans they have a 10k pot of fewer fans than us.
I buy my season pass I go to the games. I have a great day every time I go to the kc. Loving this season Name change ? I really don't care either way. In my opinion no one has proved the name change will bring in more money. But no one has proved it won't. It's just opinions....not facts. Assem Allam can stay....he can go.. We can stay up we can go down I will still go to all home games , HULL CITY or HULL TIGERS. Dont get why people are in such a rage about the daft name change . How is it the end of the world ? Far far more important things in life. HULL CITY....HULL TIGERS...same club in my opinion... no doubt if the name change is passed it won't be the end of it ..
There are many ways to look at population of areas but I struggle to see one that puts Norwich's population at only 30k less than that of Hull. If there is one, then it serves to purely manipulate an argument.
TigerFiley I read that post in the voice of the bloke from Chumbawamba It's like an autistic Tubthumping
I am afraid to say he is making himself look more foolish my the day. I think we all accept that revenue needs to be increased, but to constantly keep changing stance purely by threats, makes you wonder how he ever succeeded in business. I cannot imagine that any sponsor would want to be associated with being the reason a name change was pushed through, and enrage what could be millions of football fans all over this country and overseas.
Yep - it's a much smaller city than Hull. I'm guessing that the population of Norwich must include pretty much all the suburbs, while in Hull's case it doesn't.
Honestly, the first search I saw showed Norwich as 214k, making it actually 29k less than Hull. I didnt look any further as Im not trying to manipulate a point. If it is a much smaller population and they get bigger crowds, great. Fair play to them. I havent got an agenda here. What do you think their population is?
As I suspected, Norwich's 214k is for the whole urban area. Hull's equivalent is 314k... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_urban_areas_in_the_United_Kingdom
Oh come on, we're not using wiki are we? I'm not saying that stat is wrong but we can do better than that. So what is Norwich's if we dont use the whole area making it comparable to Hull's 243k? Edit - actually Hull's went up in 2011 census to 256k. I knew natural population was falling but then we had an influx of immigrants. I'll answer my own question - 132k. So half the size, and indeed their support is impressive with 1 in 5 people going to games. Amazing. I should search more comprehensively next time.
While I agree that wiki is not always reliable, in simple matters like this when it's simply rehashing official stats (ie the census) it's very, very unlikely to be wrong/tampered with.
The government cuts are responsible for the closure of the libraries not Assem Allam. The council decision to shut the one at the KCwas easier to do because of the disagreements. If the library had been in a thriving sports village in which the Council had invested significant amounts of money it wouldn't have closed.
"But the council chose Hull Fair in favour of the sports village, despite the fact that throughout its history, Hull Fair has not stopped the crime rate in the city going up or the number of Asbos increasing, in a way I believe the sports village could have. "That is my final word on the subject. As far as I am concerned the matter is now closed." There had been a number of meetings between Mr Allam and council officials during the summer to discuss the plans. Mr Geraghty, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, told the Mail the council must protect the interests of all the people who use the stadium and enjoy Hull Fair every year. He said: "We wanted to clear the air and explain that we have no intention of getting rid of the KC Stadium or the fairground. "We believe the land is traditionally for the fair and there is no other place we can put it. "It draws in a million people each year. "We want to safeguard the other people who use the KC Stadium." The news comes despite claims by council leader Steve Brady that any decision over the potential sale of the stadium would be down to a public referendum. Mr Brady previously told the Mail: "This is such an important decision that the administration needs to rely on the people of Hull to do this." Mr Geraghty confirmed this would no longer go ahead." Dont believe the bollocks that Brady spouts now knowing nothing is going to happen. He cant make a decision to save his life. He would still put it to a referendum. The chances of that getting a yes to sell is slim and ****ing none and Slims out of town.
I wasn't party to the negotiations but I suspect they would have funded the devlopment of the stadium, made financial contributions to the sports village, provided finance/grants for staff and helped obtain grants from the Sports Council and Europe. They would have also provided the land as Dr Stanley O'Google says.
Amazes me some people are not outraged season tickets ARE 100% GOING UP BY 50% OMFGGGGGGGG! When that's not what is said at all. There again, I'm still amazed that people are trying to paint the HCC as victims of the evil Dr Allam or as having done all they possibly could to have their generosity thrust back in their faces. Some of you do make me laugh.
