Needs to be for at least three years because the directors have destroyed the last team he built and he needs to rebuild without Kermorgant, Stephens, and probably without Solly. (I consider Cousins and Poyet to be more than adequate replacements for Jackson and Hollands).

Interesting, I'm hardly Anti Powell, but he's not done much since the takeover, maybe Ronald can't find someone to replace Chris real surprise if he is given a new deal as I was expecting Liege's u21 manager to be our new gaffa.

Agree with Eddie - it needs to be a 3 year deal to end all the uncertainty.

If this is true, I also hope he will be backed in the transfer market and not just be given cast offs. He built a team once and can do it again. This and a few good loans could be the boost we need.

Maybe it will be announced in today's press conference?

    I.A - welcome back <ok>

This whole story has been floated as the result of one unsubstantiated Tweet. We should find out today either way, as RD is due to give his first press conference. It would seem a very strange time to give any manager a new contract given that we are in the relegation zone with five league wins all season.

I imagine CP would have been awarded the Freedom of Liege if he had actually achieved something this season.

    Thanks folks

What's up with the current trend in using hashtags outside of twitter? I once saw someone scrawl "#YOLO" on the beach. How's that supposed to trend?

Rumours seem to be firming up that Powell is indeed getting a new, long term contract.

If he does, it is the footballing equivalent of Tony Blair's education policy, where it was "prizes for all" regardless of the level of failure.

Powell's new contract is like getting a certificate for achieving 3% in woodwork GCSE

Some of the best corners in the game.

Good to see him get a club the other week though to be fair.
