in this board is really something else. ("one of the best")

Because I know how touchy you guys are about him I take care to say that I have always rated how good a showstopper he is, but that in itself is not enough.

I take care to call him not good at decision making when what I really want to say is he is really ****ing dumb (and cocky on top of it), and anything he does well is pretty much just instinct, and anything requiring any modicum of intelligence he has about a 95% chance to **** up. (but as many people here point out to me, the opposition don't always abuse his mistakes -- what a relief!)

We started the game excellently today, and I will say that the tactics were SPOT-ON. It just so happens that sometimes individual players can let the manager down, and Szczesny did just that today. In fact he probably now holds the record on let-downs per games played considering how short he's been the first choice.

I was very excited about this guy since his Brentford loan days, but he is not a top-4 first choice goalkeeper. A top keeper needs to be intelligent so that he can help ease the pressure in important games. (Passing a short pass through 2 Bayern players to a player who is surrounded by 2 more Bayern players doesn't do that -- but hey nothing happened that time, right? That he does stupid **** like that every game win or lose, is no concern)

Sadly we need reinforcements in more areas, so we are destined to be let down, whenever there is a game with high stakes. But hey we'll get a few nice Hollywood saves every once in a while.

He's 23 years old. Do you expect him to make no mistakes at all? His decision making will obviously improve with age

I guess this thread was predictable after his sending off tonight. What else was he supposed to do ? Stay on his line and hope Robben fluffed a one on one ?

This thread is a cheap shot to be honest.

Oh FFS are you serious? What was he supposed to do? Oh Roen's coming at me better just watch him. Most clean sheets in the Prem. Squawka rates him as best GK in the Prem. But he's not good enough? Get real.

He also has 50% more goals conceded per game than Almunia (it was more I think) so selective stats mean nothing. Our defense has improved, and he is one of the least "tested" goalkeepers in the league. Practically every opposition which has dominated us (i.e. had plenty of shots at goal) we leaked goals. So our clean sheets can't be magically be attributed to him.

Not clip his feet when he already saw he was well beat (as far as getting to the ball is concerned)... you know, "use his head"? This wasn't the 87th minute where the team would only have to hold on for 3 more minutes.

Of course not. After all the 82 saves he's made in the Prem (many in key games that have won us points) are useless. This thread is pointless and just a way to try and continue your anti-Chez S from last season.

He had no choice he had to come out, if robben had gone for the chip he would have saved it. He made robben put the ball out wide but unfortunately couldn't pull out in time without hitting him.

Think its ridiculous to try and use that as a reason to start a thread slating him.

Easy to say in hindsight, but when a keeper is rushing out to meet the attacker then it's always going to be a danger that he'll make contact. Like I said, what was he supposed to do ? Stay on his line and hope Robben would miss ?

When he came out there was a good chance of him stopping it, as soon as he has beaten he tried to pull out.

I think he has done enough to show he has no interest in contributing in any way to the board, he isn't even an entertaining wum.
