Monreal isn't that bad, it's just Ozil is a joke when it comes to defending, only a fool would have left him on and not brought on Rosicky, who's known for his engine and work rate.
Ozil despite not being good at defending was probably our best bet at creating a chance out from nothing so I can see why we left him on.
Again, because of a piece of bad luck with Gibbs getting injured. Monreal should have seen that run from Robben, but blaming Wenger for it is ****ing dumb.
Amazing how similar this match was to the one with Barca and City last night. Both of our respective clubs have little chance of making it now.
My only worry is that this game will have taken too much out of the players for Sunderland. Bayern are just too good, we never really had a chance against this lot. They are machine like.
Everything that could have gone wrong in this game did go wrong. Missing the Pen, Gibbs getting injured and then Chez getting sent off. On another day we could have come away with a win tonight. The lads still put in a massive shift tonight so they deserve some credit, also so do our fans, they were terrific all night.
Can we drop Ozil for the weekend match, he needs to be taught that you start based on performance, not reputation, and he's largely been garbage for the past 2 months (he was OK against Liverpool, but 1 good game doesn't make up for all the others)
I have no problem with players missing penalties. What pisses me off is when they take penalties without a care in the world. A complete insult.
We matched them in the first half but in the second our legs gave out. You could see players struggling. Think ozil was kept on as he has the ability to make something out of nothing, at 1-0 down it could have all turned on one game changing pass. Unfortunately we didn't have the legs for it in the end and they over ran us. Have to say oxo had become anonymous when he was taken off and looked tired. Was desperate for us to hold on at 1-0 but at 2-0 down its a real ask to go to Munich and win by 2 goals again but at least there is room for just enough hope to go through all the emotions in the next game Happy with the performance today, thought the team out in loads of effort against the best team in the world. The red card put us to bed.
Have to disagree on Monreal he was shocking, time and time again he showed Robben in on his strong left side instead of showing him down the line.
He also won the penalty with a beautiful run, great bit of a skill and intelligent use of his opponent. Didn't see anyone else who wanted to take it either. He was involved in all our best bits of play.
we did get a chance and it was thrown away like it was yesterdays newspapers , what a waste , what a fucking waste . If Ozil EVER takes another penalty i will shove a baguette RIGHT up Arsenes ass. He should have been screaming from the touchline for someone else to take it. Its not the first sh1te pen he has taken . Jesus H Christ
No one will dispute Bayern are the best team in Europe bar none but we had a really great chance to snatch something from this game. Even with the penalty being missed, we still had a decent chance. Even being ten men down, we still had a chance. Even going down by one goal, we could've salvaged something in the 2nd leg. If we somehow score twice and don't concede in the away leg, Wenger would be a God amongst men.
Don't think ozil should come in for so much stick for his defensive play. He is an attacking player, one of the very best in the world, he isn't defensively amazing. If you sawn I'm right at the end of the game still trying to make something happen it's obvious he cares a lot and puts in effort, i think his style makes him look like he is doing less than he is sometimes. He also got called up by the commentators at times when he had covered the space but the opposition player overran it or kicked it out of play. Don't think its worth singling anyone out given the nature of the game after the red and Gibbs going off injured.
does he look a £42 million player to you? Because to me, it's looking like we've been robbed, we really should have seriously gone for Higuain instead, Santi worked well as a #10 last season.
